Hey,
So a couple of months ago someone told me that most types of monkeys in south america are non-indigenous to the continent. I also know that they can make big problem in many areas as they go around in large groups and can be aggressive. This got me thinking about going south to do some monkey hunting. I couldn't find much information on this. Does anyone know if this is a thing or if its legal? If anyone has done it before what kind of gear should be used.
Thanks all

Speaking of hunting Baboon, first time one sees it, you might be a bit surprised with just how close to home they are if you know what I mean. Anyone who doesn't think we are just the most successful ape and related to the lot, could be in for a shock.

The closer to human the tastier!

On a more serious note... hunting chimps sounds like it could be a terrifying experience. I mean they're intelligent, they can co-operate to stalk you in groups, and they can pull your arm right off your body. Though it would be especially exciting if you put the chimps through a CQB course first...

Pffff ... Ever see what an adult chimp will do to a human ? Id rip one in a heart Beat. They are not prejudice ... neither am I

Yes; they also plan assaults on other groups of chimps, and are cannibalistic.

Actually I do not like monkeys at all and often thought hunting them would be good sport. I don't have any particular grudge against gorillas or orangutans but monkeys can go...

I figure my FN would be a good monkey rifle in 7.62 X 51.

I don't think I would be comfortable hunting them. I know that they can be very dangerous but its a little too close to human for me.

I have been planning an all you can shoot baboon hunt for years, even designed and built a cartridge for and have set up with a tree farmer in SA to do just this.
I would have no qualms about shooting chimps, they are disgusting IMHO and a f**king nuisance when one is hunting under the canopy. They follow you around from on high and scream and throw feces at you, just an obnoxious animal. They are smart enough to stay high and pretty much out of sight when they see a rifle though..........and they are some fast up there moving through the tree tops, a good M16 would be the most appropriate with full auto capability and cases of ammo. A scoped rifle of bolt persuasion is almost useless and it is impossible to get the drop on them even from 4 or 500 mtrs out. They already know you're there believe me.

While I'm not a fan of eradicating animals, even gophers or coyotees, I'm a big fan of wiping out baboons. They have some very sociopathic behaviors like eating their prey alive. They evolved to the point that more and more of their food is meat. They learned that if if they rush a lake quick enough the flamingo can't take off. They eat smaller animals. None of that would bother me except they don't kill their prey. Last night I came upon a movie on YouTube where a baboon caught a baby impala or other deer looking thing. It started on the impala butt, taking out big chunks, the Impala screaming in pain. It continued to take a bite every few seconds and do so for a minute, half the impala's rear and mid section was missing yet the poor bastards was still alive. I could have sworn the baboon was enjoying it as if it knew exactly what it was doing.

Lovely ....

I seen an episode of " I survived " where some men were driving down the road and pulled up to a mature male chimp in the middle of the road. The guys in the back of the car were tourists and thought nothing of it .. started taking pictures , the black guy " a local " who was driving slammed the car in reverse ... The Chimp started chasing them. The driver crashed the car in reverse and the chimp caught them ... The chimp started attacking the car. the driver got the car out and started down the road ... about 3 miles down the roadthey to a dead end ... the driver was still panicking alothough they had not seen the chimp in awhile. The passengers thought they were safe ... WRONG ! chimp caught up with them and smashed a window out of the car and grabbed one of the guys while still in the car and started biting his fingers off ... they ended up escaping but ... scary as fk !

Google chimp attacks and click pictures ... Some sweet action

Kind of like a wolf...they will start eating their prey before its dead as well!

Same as wolves and many other predators. I've seen wolves take down deer and start eating the guys while the deer is screaming and thrashing. Nature is cruel.
