Hi folks,

Many months ago, I put my hands on a seriously messed up barreled receiver. Way beyond any hope of returning to original shape, so...

I asked my oldest son if he wanted to design his own SKS. Obviously our tastes differ, but this rifle is his, so he picked what he wanted!

Looking at parts online, stock options, etc... He ended up selecting the sort-of-Dragunov-looking stock. He wanted also to have a scope, not mounted in the middle (scout), but I told him that cheap bolt-cover scope mounts were crap. He insisted, so I mounted a removable side mount; I guess my son's Dragunov theme influenced this option. I may change the scope on it for one that sits a bit lower.

Since there was no front sight / bayo lug to be found on the barrel, we looked at options to dress up the front; leaving the barrel tapered looked weird. A good friend threaded the muzzle and a FN FAL flash hider, and voilà, something reasonable up front.

I usually like my milsurp rifles to stay all original, but in this case, I started with a pre-bubba'ed barreled action... or a hopeless piece of junk might be a better description!

We should be able to test this one at the range in a week or two.

Not your usual work, but it'll do! My buddy uses that same stock for hunting, it feels pretty good. Much improved LOP over the original. Abandoning the dust cover mounts is the way to go too. My bubba SKS has a Pro Mag side mount, what do you have sitting on top? I'm looking for a red dot to go with mine.
Good call on the FAL flash hider too, looks sharp.

I should mention, the FN FAL flash hider job was done by CGN's Airborneboi69 - very well done I might add. I wanted to check with him if it was ok before mentioning his name :)

Good work you two . I must say the FN FH looks good on VZ as well , much easier to do than the SKS .

Just is case someone here needs cheap FN FH , you can get them from tradex for a couple of bucks.
