Talk me out of a S&W .460

Unless you are an experienced hand loader, your ammo will cost you dearly at over $2.50 CDN. a pop. Unless you are a proficient shooter of powerful handguns you will soon be turned off as much as the bystander shooters on either side of you at a range, indoors OR out. Unless you plan on hunting with it stateside or feel the need for a legal status wilderness carry permit and good luck with that in Ontario, it will soon be old hat for once again, the price of the ammo. And finally, unless you are being bothered by elephants, rhinos or other such dangerous critters, you'll soon find yourself (as I did) selling it and the left over ammo on CGN.
But if all you want is for the rush of adrenaline you get with every shot, then your money is well spent!
And what a rush it is !

If your gonna spend $1300 plus on a revolver that you plan on shooting primarily .45 or .454 from why not just go buy a revolver in those calibers and stop wasting your time being a poser with a big x frame revolver in your hands. Buying a 460 is like having 8 inches but can't get it up. :p

500 S&W Magnum separates the men from the boys. ;)

Why were the men and the boys joined together in the first place?

Honestly, I'm glad I got the chance to hold one before I ordered online. The 460 seems like a great round, and gun, but the x frame is just silly big.

my wife walked up when I was holding it in the store and she says "wow! that's huge!!" and of course I say "that's what she she says" and the guy behind the counter laughs pretty hard and says "that's funny... cause that's what she actually said!" LOL R:d:

Go big or go home... I've got a 500 and I'm not compensating for anything other than a big guy needs a big gun. I wouldn't let my 12 year old nephew shoot it, it's just too big and too powerful for him to handle... so maybe those guys that are saying we're compensating for something are just implying that they aren't able to handle it. :nest:cou:
