I really want a SWISS arms rifle, love the look/feel but in this current political climate and their review I am wondering if that would be a stupid decision to make?. I found a pretty good local deal on one.

I dont want to buy a restricted to get a knock on the door and have them remove my property..

Anyways thoughts/Opinions.. I know nobody really knows whats going on..

I'm holding off with buying a Les Baer 1911, because it has a 50% deposit required, and a 12 month delivery wait.
Just the time that Justin may get in, and take it away(maybe even before I get it). I ain't riskin' 4 grand!

Well thats the problem its a restricted. If it wasnt a restricted I would end up with a mass grave in the backyard

there are non -restricted models available- should be able to find one of those. or as suggested, re barrel it, if it's a good enough deal.

Non - restricted, no one knows. I don't fear any changes, I would become a criminal. My parents were around during Martial law in 1981 and I stand for that crap happening here.

I was at shooters choice in Waterloo yesterday. They've had a brand new Swiss arms for at least a month if anyone wants it lol

Is the confiscation of our restricted firearms a real threat? I've been out of the political loop for a bit. I am in a similar spot as the OP. Looking to buy a glock in the next while but if there is a chance of loosing it I will wait. Question is, wait how long? Someone please enlighten me to the circumstances of this issue?

No, that's not all you can do.
Buy more guns, invite non-shooters to go to the range with you, join the NFA and CSSA and donate to them when you can, write letters to your local politicians, buy even more guns, buy the damn Swiss Arms and become personally committed to it's future.

for those of you that are waiting because you think they are going to confiscate all the restricted, All I have to say to you guys, is why wait until they change the law? you might as well turn in your licenses now and save yourself the headaches. It is real poor gesture to all the people that have been fighting the C68, LGR and continue to fight for the rights of the law bidding firearm owners in this country.

They will ban them when they come for all of the other semi-autos....

If I was in your shoes, I'd contact Calgary Shooting Centre about an SG-540.

Yeah man if it's a gun you want and you can afford it then I say buy it! The more guns that are out there the more expensive it will be for the gun grabbers to grab them, and thus harder to justify taking guns away from us law abiding people in the first place.

OP- buy the Swiss arms and enjoy it. Get it rebarrelled by Ian @ Herron arms to non restricted.

Why not get a Bushmaster ACR NR then, just as good as the Swiss arms rifle.

Although I love my ACR, the only things it may be better than the SAN in is a) slight edge in accuracy and b) it has a quick change barrel/caliber conversion.
