The last couple of shipments from canpar have required I be home to sign, Luckily, I was on holidays for the first one, but now I have to figure out where their depot is and when I can get to it.... I used to sign the form and instruct them to leave it in the back of my pickup thats in the driveway. I drive truck.... so Im never home ..... Is this your new policy, or canpars?? .... and can we get around this somehow next time, Thanks...

Have you seen the number of posts on this site regarding missing or damaged packages? Perhaps it's inconvenient, but it means the shipper, the courier and you are gonna know that YOU received the package.

Not home during the day? Ship packages to a friend or relative in your town known to be home during the day, or to your place of business. All the best : )

I think this is a great policy, good to see CanAm being proactive, and not waiting until they start getting bad press.

It has been getting better, but I remember a time not too long ago when certain courier companies would only ship to the "billing address" on the credit card/ confirmed (FRAUD ALERT) address.

In the early days of shopping online, that was a real PITA. I have noticed now that this is not as much as a problem.

I'm not sure why a large shipping company like Canpar doesn't have a website to find information for things like this .. oh wait they do have a website.

1) Try: http://www.canpar.com/en/ship/terminal.jsp for a terminal locator (This was found in 3 seconds via our friend Google)
2) Also try calling Canpar with your tracking number to see if they'll arrange something for you (I know, calling someone is strange)
3) I'm not an expert or brainiac, but I'm just guessing that if you ordered something like a GUN or AMMO that Canpar can't just leave it at the door when a valid PAL holder is required.. OR maybe anything ordered from CanAm must be signed just in case there is a GUN or AMMO and they're not sure.

Autonomous Learning is fun!!

I'm jesting with the sarcasm of course, but I'm 100% positive the above methods will get you faster results than posting here. Hope you get your stuff soon mate!

Fair enough... i guess I'll have to find some one to do that for me... I personally have never had a problem with any deliveries... but I guess that covers everyones ass...

1- I already called. Left a msg. After hours. 2- it was a knife and a 870 extension ...So NOT firearms or ammo.... 3- And Canpar isnt gonna tell me if I have other shipping options..... Anyways..... The terminal is in Brantford , an hour away.... I am gone 6-6 usually every week day, so if there is a better way, I would like to know it... Driving an hour to get a parcel could very well be the deciding factor in future orders... Anyways, I should have just sent an email...my bad....

I work nights so its a real pain for me. I miss every package and have to wait until the next day after 12. That said I understand why they require a signature its for everyones protections. In fact (FRAUD ALERT) requires it over $250.00 or your not covered.

Its being phased in with all of Canpars firearms customers.
Its simple, have it delivered to where you are going to be during the day,
or arrange to go pickup at the closest terminal.

Firearms you can ship by Canada Post. Ammo by Canpar only. So I was told. I had a good system last year but with all the whiners now my only option is a 6-6:30 am pickup at Canpars depot. Delivery at work is fine but what about all the people that work at schools, courts, retail and service industry or good luck even on a construction site??? Very few people have the option of a at work delivery!!!!

Odd. Last month I called Canpar and asked to pick it up from a depot (This was a gun). The phone agent even called me back on my cell to confirm that the driver okay'd the depot drop off rather than attempt to deliver again. I imagine this made them happy as they didn't have to drive to my house again with another failed attempt.

Even if the depot is an hour away it might be better than having your stuff "return to sender". I recco to try again.

I spoke with Canpar today and confirmed that you can still get it safe drooped, and if the driver arrives with a package requiring delivery, you just need leave a letter taped to the front door of the residence, with instructions on where to leave it, with your name written and signed, as well as a contact phone number, and it helps if you leave the tracking number in the note.

Dear Canpar,
I am expecting a package today with the # of Sh1000078222 to be delivered to myself, 1000yards, originating from Ontario. This parcel can be safely left at the back door entrance, inside the blue recycling box where it will be monitored by my personal video surveillance.
I can be reached at 403-555-5555 if there is any issue, Thank you and have a great day!
Signed,
1000yards

Now my "video surveillance" is a trail cam that I set up at my back door in the bushes,
Ive done it before, and had no issue, and will see if it works tomorrow still, but I expect no problems.
They take the note with them to cover their butt, and I have had zero issues with missing or stolen items.

I work 5 minutes from the CanPar depot and I'm delighted to pick things up there. However my last ammo shipment got shlepped to my home address TWICE before I was able to meet it at the depot.

With my latest purchase [DA556 rifle] I've requested that CanAm arrange for the package to be held at the depot...and in any case I'll call CanPar as soon as I have the shipment number and make sure it happens.

Certain places like CanAm use canpar and even though that option is "free" I find it so inconvenient I wish I could just pick the stuff up from CanAm myself in North Van. I have to drive to the Canpar depot in Burnaby because like most people, I work and I can't be home for half a day waiting for a courier that only does bankers hours. I am also about an hour from the depot. Any opportunity I get, I use usps and Canada post. At least I can pick up the package from them on a Saturday only 10 minutes from the house... I sure know if I had a pickup option from CanAm it should be a bit cheaper due to not needing a courier, I can get my stuff right away and that means I would be a repeat customer.
