Do any of you Fudds still use Nosler Partitions?

There was always two fool proof ways to start an all evening argument, discussion at a hunt camp. Those being; state or ask what the best calibre is to shoot a deer? and then ask what is the best method to field dress it? That has now been expanded to 4 fool proof ways as the majority of CGN folks are more gun knowledgeable than the average hunt camp patron. The added two questions are; what is the best bullet to shoot the deer and what is the best method to clean the guns barrel afterwards.

There are as many opinions and theories on the questions as there are deer in the bush and hunters in pursuit with gun in hand, never will there be agreement on any of the four. Lively discussion is therefore eternally ensured.

Partitions cost more and don't kill any better than speer hot cores...I've got a few partial boxes of partitions sitting on the bench for the last decade, maybe one day I'll load them up just to make some room.
Nothing wrong with them but other bullets work just as good for half the price!
I just bought a box of hot core for my 8mm without knowing how they performed. Got them for moose next fall and found the price very down to earth. You like them?

We are talking about an unsophisticated meat and potatoes owner of regular hunting arms are we not? I wouldn't find that offensive, WTH?

That is because you are unsophisticated. See, if you were highly sophisticated you would find this unbearably offensive. In fact, I find your post offensive for its unsophisticated approach to this serious, and sophisticated, problem.

I can't believe some of you guys.....:runaway:

Well, it's CGN, so maybe I can.;)

I guess people have forgotten or never really understood the HUMOUR aspect of CGN. So here, I'll spell it out here for you:

The thread has a HUMOUROUS title about declining Partition sales. Which isn't a really serious topic but it's a topic that may be of interest to hunters, as the NP has been around for over 60 years, and was one of the first "premium" bullets available to hunters. It set a benchmark for hunting bullets and to a certain degree we can still use it as a benchmark since it's performance is so well known.

Now I'll try to explain the humour part of the title....

The term "Fudd" is used in a couple of ways. One is somewhat derogatory and describes those hunters and shooters who would gladly sell out handgun and black rifle shooters as long as they got to keep their precious trap shotgun and 30-06 pump action. It can also be used to describe old guys that fuss about at the shooting range telling young whippersnappers in thier 20s, 30's and 40's that their unrestricted semi auto black rifle is illegal and that he has a good mind to call the cops.

The other way it's used is as International Harvester said- an average meat and potatoes hunter, or really, any hunter over the age of about 40. Elmer Fudd was a popular icon when many of us were growing up and his image has been used many times in various hunting scenarios and products over the years. It's not derogatory, it's usually pretty funny, and lots of hunters jokingly call their buddies FUdds when they show up wearing some typical ELmer Fudd attire like the red plaid jacket or the earwarmer hats.

So, being that the topic is about Nosler partitions (an old school premium bullet) and that there was never any mention of NP users selling out other shooters....Which description of FUdd do you guys think is the one most appropriate for this thread? Hmmmm?

For the most part, the Fudd thing here on CGN is a joke. Too bad more folk don't get it. Clarke's trolling is humour as is my own.

IT'S A BLOODY JOKE PEOPLE! GET OVER IT!

Your sigline is offensive and divisive. Moderators, ban SuperFudd...er, Super CUB- immediately!

It just loses something when ya gotta 'splain sh!t!!!

Guess I'm a "Fudd" also, .....I prefer walnut and blue guns, and use Partitions. Guess what, ...I'm also over 40!!
Over the years guiding and meat hunting I've seen over 3000 animals go down to Partitions, so they work consistently when the shot is placed. For some calibers I've stocked up many 40 boxes (the factory might have a fire!), so I have faith in them.
Have I tried others? Yep, almost everything that came on the market and a few that didn't. I was playing with Colorado Custom and Trophy Bonded when they were being developed, and lots of others. Still playing with new stuff for the big bores, because Partitions don't come in every caliber.
But, any new shooter that asks for advice is told to start with the Partition and go from there as they get experience. No one likes chasing wounded game, so go for what works best consistently.
