What's the closest thing we have to a FAMAS?

I mean there's the T97, if you did some custom machining to make your own cosmetic parts, but is there anything else?

*Edit* I'll add that I do indeed have access to a multitude of machining tools, making accessories has been done before.

i tried to check the RCMP website to see if this was prohib (probably is, you wouldn't be asking if it wasn't) but there was a notice on the page saying "Canadian Firearms Program fact sheets concerning the Firearms Act are currently being revised" and that "Updated versions will be posted as soon as possible" Now i doubt this is news to you guys, just curious how long its been there?

Hmm. well maybe i'll wait; a BAR is way out of my price range, so my second project idea was build a FAMAS clone using a T97 as a base. Keeps things simple when I can still use AR mags in it!

It is perfectly legal to own this in Canada.

I am referring to owning this photograph, not the actual firearm depicted in the photograph:p

thanks to the previous government, this is as close as we will ever going to get.

It's been on here a few times now, but it's worth busting out every once in a while for anyone that missed it. Everytime I hear FAMAS now, surrender sticks is the first thing that pops into my head... ;)

The Famas has never seen surrender, kind of funny hey! Seriously.

Flame the FAMAS all you want but I really want one. I think it's a beautiful rifle.

If the prohib class ever goes away I'm picking one up for sure.

Hold on...wasn't there a thread in here a while ago about some Czech/Bulgarian/Romanian (sorry can't remember which country) rifle that looked like a tacticool Famas? I remember seeing the video about it with a guy wearing a pimp track suit but can't find the thread (as I can't remember any names of what to look for). Surely, some CGN'r with awesome google-fu can find it...

It's only flamed because of the French army reputation. Otherwise I haven't found any reading to say it's a bad rifle.

That reputation is a little misunderstood too. The French took the highest casualty rate of any army in the first world war. When they marched out to meet the Germans for the fourth time in a hundred years in 1939, nearly every man had lost his father/uncle/brother only 20 years earlier, or seen them come home crippled or wounded. Kind of demoralizing, no one wished to go through it all again. And the generals of the army based nearly their entire defensive strategy on a line of fortification that the German army simply drove around.
Poor leadership and marching past the mass graves of their relatives did that army in.

I believe its the VHS rifle?

Thanks...that's the one...the VHS from Croatia (my bad). Wonder if that will ever get here? Probably not as I don't see a semi only version of it...

The French fought long enough and hard enough for the British to escape.
