Ever go to Canadian Tire for mini-blinds and come home with a Mosin Nagant?

I did! It was on sale, so Mama would be proud. A good financial decision, I would say.

Bog standard Izhevsk 91/30 made in 1938. Bayonet serial matches everything else. Had a choice of four, equally non-rare ones. This had the best stock, it only has a few small scratches on the left side. Cleaned the cosmo out of the barrel and cleaned/coated with some Ed's Red before putting to to bed last night. Barrel looks really nice now, and I am cleaning the rest of it tonight. Can't wait to shoot this thing, but DAMN that trigger is heavy compared to my SKS. Going to have to polish that sucker good.

Nope, but I have an SKS you should meet! One of our local outlets in Winnipeg had a bunch of K98's and K31's on the shelf along with Mosin snipers back in December. I was already broke from my Lee Enfield at that point though.... :(

Nice looking rifle.

More or less same thing happened to me between Xmas and New Year's of 13. Stopped at CTC in Belleville for something- Don't remember what now. They had a few MN's for sale. One had brass fittings on hand guard. I always wanted one of those. Downside was the sales guy (who seemed to know what he was talking about) said it wasn't for sale as it had been returned because the ejector was not working. I wanted it for the brass hardware so he said I could have it for 20 bucks off the regular $169 price but the sale was final. I already had 3 91/30's at home and planned on swapping the handguard and maybe replacing the ejector. Got it home and cleaned out some remaining grease in the action and ejector then worked fine. Traded off one of the other rifles as the CTC find turned out to be a better shooter.
