Please, will someone please help.
I have been waiting for what seems forever, for my 10/22 Target order to get fulfilled. But from what I can discern from retailers is that they are getting all sorts of orders filled from Ruger except for the Targets. Should I continue waiting? or should I bite the bullet (pardon the pun) and buy a standard model and modify with target barrel ect.ect?
Any information or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have a target 10/22 with a green mountain battle and a normal 10/22 with a green mountain barrel. They both shoot the same, I might say the target model trigger is a little better but that could just be in my head. I would pick up a standard 10/22 and buy a new barrel and stock, they are great fun to shoot.

What makes a Ruger Target any more special then any other Ruger 10/22?? I have the Takedown, so far I love it, its better than my Savage 64F 22

Spending more on parts you're going to replace anyway. Buy a basic 10/22, replace the barrel with a target barrel, replace the stock with something better (avoid anything plastic), and replace the hammer with a target hammer. You'll be very happy with just those changes. A target hammer will fix the trigger by reducing pull weight and smoothing it out.

I was told the Stainless Takedown was one of the best in the Rugers.. I have a stainless takedown..

Also, way easier to sneak an expensive target rifle past the wife this way. Getting a new rifle into the house = "hard, she's going to notice"... Getting replacement parts for a cheap carbine you already have = "oh, this is just a spare part for the gun I already have. Don't worry about it honey."

Plus it's more fun to build your own rifle. I just built a shorrty 10/22 and really enjoyed the process. Plus a bonus is that it is very accurate at 50 yards.
