I really like the look of a pair of Ivory Grips on a SS Ed Brown Kobra Carry 1911 (commander model). I would prefer even more the "white" grip colour that doesn't have a smooth finish.

Does anyone know where I can find Ivory grips Bobtail cut for the Kobra Carry (commander model)? Better yet Ivory Grips with some sort of stippling for better grip?

Or how about a nice high quality Bobtail cut grip in the white/very light colour spectrum? (doesn't have to be made of Ivory)

Yes it is possible to get legal ivory grips. Ivory is heavily restricted and illegal only in certain cases...

It's not that money is no object but I am willing to pay if I can find exactly what I want. Remember also that these are going on a $3000+ semi-custom 1911.

Ivory is only illegal from certain species of elephant made after a certain period of time when it was banned... there are other animals such as walrus which ivory can also be obtained from. Also, I found these on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Colt-1911-Grips-Bonded-Ivory-with-Gold-medallions-/360866208031.

I know my response wasn't all that useful but I need help as well... how exactly do you start a thread? I can't seem to find the 'start new thread' option anywhere. That might not even be necessary if anyone reading this knows a good place in Canada to buy a deactivated Browning FN 1900 old spec. (Other than CollectorsSource, already checked there) Websites are the best but if you know a physical place in South Ontario that's fine too. Any help would be appreciated xD

Kimsoncraft on ebay sells hand made bone and water buffalo horn grips for 1911's,bobtails too.
I bought a set of bone grips with an abalone maltese cross inlay (beautiful).
Delivery took a couple of months ,but it was worth the wait.

that's bonded ivory, that's why they're so cheap

real elephant ivory grips would cost ten times that

Ed Brown uses Tru Ivory grips.....which are imitation ivory
