ATT question

Ive got a question regarding ATTs.

So if i was to want to go stay with some family for a couple weeks, and we all wanted to go out to the gun range a shoot a bit, could i bring my restricted firearm with me? I would think not becuase the ATT is only good from MY house to the range(ect.). Is there a way i can get a Temp ATT to take it to my families house and then to the range? Or just no? It would be within the same province, about a 5 hour drive away.

No, no and no, completely forbidden.

Unless it's an event under shooting association with invitation , then you require a temp ATT..

Call and ask about a STATT, they are issued all the time for people going to matches and staying at hotels.

Yes like I said, but the justification here is : I want to show my guns to my family , ... no ATT possible here I'm pretty sure .

If you are in BC, your ATT should state that it is valid to all approved gun ranges in BC, (plus gunsmiths and border crossings), I'd be willing to put a couple of dollars on you not having a problem going to another range in BC. Staying with relatives, (for a short time) likely shouldn't be any different than staying in a hotel.

Phone and ask though, that way you know where you stand.

You plan to do some shooting at a range while staying in a place other than your residence. (not "show my guns to people") This is a valid request for a STATT. Although the main entry fields for the ATT are somewhat restrictive (i.e. 2 addresses) it should have your address and the other address. I've had STATTs to transport borrowed restricteds from a friend's house to mine and back for 2 weeks at a time. The CFO helper was very helpful in figuring out what to put in the auth for me (and I'm in Ontario!!).

When i said I wanted to "Show my new gun off" i meant on a range, its a lot more fun that way!

I suppose by best bet is to just phone the RMCP and see what they say.

Read your ATT. It'll tell you where you can go. If it says "any approved range", you're all set. Likely does. This is how shooters can go to matches at other clubs. Of course, you'd still have to find a public range. You can't just show up at another club. Although, I suspect you'd be welcomed, but you can't take guests to a club where you aren't a member.
That confirmation? You're conforming to BC's CPFO's regs.

Yes, but here it need to be within an event from shooting association only (i.e. IDPA competition) if you want to go shoot at a range that you are not member.
