Newly made vz58 receivers

There are receivers being manufactured in the US.
Don't know if these would be exportable.
Depending on how things go, there could be a real business opportunity.

And brought in for dirt cheap to flood the market.

The RCMP wants to abuse the Canadian Citizen by robbing them of a firearm just because they feel like it... well good job... now they have two in it's place.

It would be the biggest counter strike spit in the face to them if we were able to get new recovers machined. Same thing happened with Ak's in the states. They tried to ban them by outlawing the Russian made recievers and so the owners said haha and made their own. Also just bought the ak in surplus pieces and put them together. Improvisation and resourcefulness they will never take away from us. We need to push back every way we can to show them we will not be bullied.

Well, it's a piece of metal without any parts. I'm thinking that if specs are created from "approved" receivers, e.g. 2006 models, some plant in China can do them for $20-$50 if we get 10,000 on order.

If it comes down to this I would rather pay more to have something made in Canada. No actually if it comes down to this I think I may just pack my #### and go try my hand at at someone else's citizenship test.

^^sadly if we have them made in Canada. The sales tax would go to... Yes the government, which will in turn pay the gustapo... I mean... RCMP, to take more from us. I wonder how much extra tax dollars will be spent to hire the hundreds of extra people to play detective and how much of their time will be spent on this meaningless witch hunt, time that could be spent going after the real problems that the country has that cause any real violence...

Canada... China... US... I don't care where. I just want them all to stay in the hands of those that bought them legally.

With these actions, the RCMP have just publicly admitted their incompetence. They were either completely incompetent when they made the decision that the CZ858 was non-restricted when they first looked it over.... or currently completely incompetent when they now decide it's prohibited. The re-classification is completely illogical to the educated. And the RCMP that made this decision are supposed to be educated.

So if it can be said that the RCMP are NOT uneducated and NOT incompetent... these actions are seen by the firearms community as the RCMP thumbing their noses at our current government and spiting on the Canadian Citizen.

Any chance to get someone to manufacture new vz receivers to replace about 9000-10000 receivers that just got prohibited?

Yep, it's definitely a possibility. ;)

The US is not the only source.

Good use of your head viable idea but I hope not a single rifle gets confiscated through

Absolutely!!

The ideal solution to this insanity is gov't action to reverse this RCMP decision.
If that fails, there are always options.

New reciever would be a new firearm? Wouldn't a new frt have to be issued? What is the wait time at the RCMP lab now? Two years? Liberals be in power by then so it won't matter.

Should be possible to use the existing FRT. The gun is not prohibited by name or by function. It's selectively prohibited based on the belief that some made after 2007 were made from previously assembled full auto guns, as opposed to NOS parts being finished as semi-auto only. A new virgin receiver would address those concerns.

Certainly if the Federal Govt Tendered a contract for 10K of Canadian made replacement 858 receivers. To be traded 1 for 1.
Lawful owners would not pay any taxes, the Govt would be covering the gaff generated by Rotten Carrots and Mashed Potatos.
The expense would be removed from the RCMP's operating budget.
Accountability fellas that's how it gets metered out.

This was my first thought when I heard the news. Strip it down, chop the receiver off near the barrel, and press it out, and just get a new receiver. I'm not exactly sure, but I think in the States, because of the import laws, it's fairly common to get a stub of a receiver with the barrel in, and they do they just this, press it out and assemble it all on an American made receiver.

Doesn't work like that. New manufacturer, new FRT.

This is definitely a good idea - we'd need a currently licensed manufacturer for a large contract if it's within Canada just because of the laws, but certainly doable.

I also had a thought, I'd like to buy a parts kit and try building a sheet metal receiver - could work....

Edit - Ohio Ordnance did make CZ 858 receivers - wasn't much demand so they stopped, but the have done it and have all the tooling and experience if there's a big enough contract for it.

These czechpoint also has done good quality 858 receivers.
