Great deals on brand new Taurus!

Ah, sorry for just spewing hate. 09Outlander is correct, their main line revolvers, Raging Bull/Judge, are pretty good and I am warming up to their revolver-carbine. The normal numbered revolvers however are a toss up. Sometimes you get an amazing product, other times you are left at the mercy of their QA. As much as I'd love to take the Taurus lottery again, I figure I will just save the money for the CZ75BD I've been lusting after. (Still need a good range 357.. One day I will find it haha)

I bought the large frame 608 earlier today. I didnt see lots of reviews on that particular model up here, only one CGN'r who seemed to have gotten a lemon but otherwise nada. Read some reviews on US sites and looks like the 608 is a pretty good revolver, for under $600 that is. It sure won't compare to my 627-0 but I've been looking for an 8 round .357 revolver for a while plus that pricing was too good to pass up. Let's hope that the quality is there and it won't be a lemon, in any case, I've read that Taurus firearms are covered with a lifetime warranty and that they will repair or replace the gun weather you're the 1st or the 10th owner.

Out of curiosity I've looked at the .44 Raging Bull compared with the large frame Model 44 and there's only 1oz difference in weight with the same bbl length, the RB has a heavier barrel, different grips & angle to soak up heavier recoil, larger cyl. wall and dual cyl. locks. The frame on both models look the same and there's a difference of $58 between both models ($741 vs $799 US MSRP). The .454 version, at $1070 MSRP looks like a different animal though.

I'd love to hear a followup when you finally get some time with it. I could very well have been misjudging Taurus all these years due to a single lemon.. (Tracker 990. Thing would not fire anything reliably.. Then again, the 617 I tested had the same issues. Doesnt help that I compare them to my 17-2 haha)

Also heard that Taurus rimfire revolvers had issues. Will report back when I get a chance to shoot some WC's, +P's & Magnums through the 608.
