What is everyone using for a scope when out gopher hunting? I have a cheap bushnell red dot that is okay, but I am looking for something a little more precise. I bought a Tasco scope with AO years ago and it has been a great little scope, I am just worried that I got one of the rare good ones and want to stay away from them this time.

I am looking for something under $400, with an adjustable objective and at least 3-9 but would prefer more magnification.

I will be using it for gopher shooting, 10yrds to 100 yards.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks.

Took a look at the Nikon, looks okay but no AO. I actually have a different Nikon on my .17 good glass for the price but i can't stand not having the AO.

if your near a Cabela's go in and have a look at their house brand scopes, they are called Pine Ridge.
for the money i think they are the best glass out there.
i picked up 2 last year, one for my 10/22 and one for my Savage MKII and they are fantastic.
i think the one on my 10/22 was like $115 and the one for my Savage was $180?
they rival my Redfield and Leupold for clarity.

sec, think i got a pic of them, ill post.

this is a Pine Ridge on a stainless 10/22

i really like them, for the money you cant go wrong.

if you want A/O have a look at the hawke line of scopes. I have a couple of there higher end ones very nice scopes for the money

I'm looking at weight. The hawke scopes look great but are heavy. Almost as heavy as my sightron 10-50 30+ oz.
My HD7 is 2x and 13.5oz. My trs-25 is 3.7oz.
Most of you will have to admit you bench rest shoot and not off hand shoot.
If you're talking about shooting alot of gophers and walking with your gun, IMO weight matters.
I'm too looking for a gopher scope. I had a tasco 6-24x and 10-40x good cheap scopes but heavy.
I like the leupold ultralight scopes, 8-11oz but haven't been able to look through one :(
$500+ is alot to drop on a scope you have never looked through IMO.
Hope you find something you like!
Anyone have an ultralight and want to give a review?

I tried my big heavy 10-24 Mildot it was just too big and heavy, then I tried a red dot great for up to 40 yards but lacked magnification needed for longer shots, settled on a NcStar 3x9 with Mildots, illuminated, with a drop compensator dial.

I say 3x9 is great for hunting Mildots are a must.

Here is my 1022 gopher gun build.

(and yes I moved the front sight the other way around)

Id go with a vortex. Although I do have a zeiss on my wmr lol. Gopher guns I find there is no time to sit and fiddle with knobs and such. All my scope are centerfire non adjustable scopes. Works well for me.

I built it up over a few months also had many parts left over from other projects but here is goes never really thought about it. :)

I know this is about scopes but thought you might find the 1022 parts costs interesting as well.

265.00 10/22
150.00 for the stock
90.00 for the Charger barrel
65.00 for the buttstock
120.00 for the scope
35.00 for the rear sights
25.00 for the front sight
10.00 for the front sling mount
25.00 for the QD mounts
15.00 for the tri grip
30.00 for the led light
15.00 for the sling
15.00 for the front top rail
39.00 for the magazine
12.00 side rails
20.00 buffer tube clamp pinned and epoxied (to keep it over 670mm)

Most of the parts I had except for the 1022, 556 stock kit, and magazine, I tend to move the parts around between projects but these parts are staying put.

I like the adjustable knobs but once set I don't mess with them prefer to just use the MilDots.

It is super handy when pesting.

Yeah but I love shooting it worth it to me, like I said everything is modular so not like I cannot reuse the parts or part it out but I won't.

Sorry got sidetracked but here is my pellet gun with a Chinese 3x9, while I like the Mildots it is too heavy.

Vortex is great but as heavy as any bushnell/sightron/nightforce.

I don't think anyone would have trouble carrying mine and shooting off hand all day long. If weight is an issue for you, you would hate my CZ 455 varmint 17 hmr with a zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50. That scope is a beast.

I run a Leupold VX3 1.5-5. It's great. Basically always on 5x and usually shooting freehand.

I have the Leupold rimfire 2-7's on the rest of the family's guns and they're a great scope too. The finer crosshair is nice.
