Glock 17 gen 4 or Girsan Yavuz 16

The Girsan might be a fine pistol, but what happens when something breaks? Where do you get parts? Where do you get magazines? Holster? If the parts are all *identical* to a Beretta 92, then you are probably OK, but Beretta parts aren't as readily available in Canada as they are in the US. I've got a 92EII and getting mags and a holster was painful... If someone is starting in IPSC I always recommend Glock or CZ, why? Apart from being competitive guns, you can always find a source for parts and accessories.
If I needed parts for my Beretta, Glock or CZ (have all 3) I'd be ordering them from the States. None of which are in short supply. Also all of them would do just fine in IPSC.

Ok i tried both of them and here is my review. Probably not too relevant since i'm pretty new.

Girsan: Just love the finish on it and it fits perfectly in my hands. I shot about 50 rounds and had 0 malfunctions. Overall great gun.

Glock: It fitted okay in my hands but i shot my targets better than Girsan. I personally don't like polymer type guns but it was great fun shooting this and again had 0 malfunctions after shooting 50 rounds.

For the price, i think Girsan is a better gun than glock but then again i'm pretty new so i don't really know wtf i am talking about.

Conclusion: Next gun will be colt 45 so will save money on that.

You're correct, you have no clue what you're talking about.

I have both, first purchase was a glock. To be honest I find it really boring, To me its a utilitarians gun. Functions great but has no thrill to it. The girsan is nice to look at feels nice and can't beat the sound of that steel when placing it on a glass table,...try it.

Why because he prefers the Girsan? I've never held one but had several Glocks and Berettas (now just one of each) and sure if you're looking for a tool to spit bullets out Glock is the way to go, but if you value looks, fit and finish Beretta is way above Glock. And if Girsan is close it sounds like that's what tacticalz is trying to say.

He failed to quantify his statement which tells me he has no idea what he's talking about.

I'm not going to write an essay for you. Just gave my two cents. I feel that Glock is way too overpriced and over hyped for what's it worth and the only reason I bought it was because i got a good deal on it and i don't think i will buy another one at the current regular price. If we are allowed to conceal carry in Canada, my opinion might change but I personally just like the feel, looks of 1911's.

Your personal opinion aside, what factual information did you use to base your opinion on that the girsan is better than the glock?

I have a Girsan now, sold my Glock 22 (with conversion barrel) to get it. It is nice, much nicer than the Glock. Before anybody says anything, I have no hate for polymer pistols I have a H&K USP and a Walther P99. For the eagle-eyed among you, yes all are DA/SA pistols not striker fired. Having said that I will always have room for a Glock in my safe. In the process of saving up for a G19 now.
For TDC's benefit, my own feeling is just that "my feeling" that I prefer Girsan to Glock. It feels better to shoot and hold on to. It is not about what is right and wrong, better or worse. Each one has their opinion and is entitled to it.

Don't know where you will get parts for the girsan if it breaks something or if conventional berretta parts will fit(not that it matters we don't have that many berretta parts), I don't know if the girsan takes propietary mags, or if berretta mags fit, berretta mags are expensive nonetheless, and I am not sure who works on berettas should you break one

Glocks are plentiful, durable, have parts everywhere, and have tons of cheap mags for it.

Well, i already said i had 0 malfunctions on both guns which fired about same rounds and I know that Glocks are very reliable guns but i have heard good reviews about reliability on Girsans too. I don't think there is any other factual information i need except for reliability and price and the rest comes down to your personal preference which you likes the best and which feels better in your hands etc. I never said Glocks were bad but all i'm saying is for me personally Girsan is better because it looks nice and fits better in my hands than Glock and you can't really go wrong with the price. Glocks are very reliable guns but to me they are overpriced and ugly. Yes, i agree with last posters about the parts which is the only downside but hey they are so cheap, you can always buy another one.

Beretta parts fit, are easy to buy and relatively cheap from Brownells. Mecgar M9 mags are $35, the pistol is very easy to disassemble, and the US military have been issued the 92FS in one form or another for over 20 years....no shortage of parts or fear of them stopping production. The Girsan is actually cheaper to buy and maintain then the Glock....it really is a 92F in all aspects other then being made in Turkey.

Thanks, I didn't know if the parts from beretta fit in girsans. Glad that got clarified.

50 rounds is not indicative of anything. Try 500 in a single session and 5000 total before making a bold statement about reliability. That aside, you gave your opinion which is yours to have and is not factual in any way shape or form. Nothing wrong with your opinion, just making it clear for others that your decision to go with a girsan were personal opinion not performance/reliability/ease of use or any other practical reason.

I had the same problem. I went with the Girsan bright white. About 2000 rounds and not an issue. I shot the Glock as well and I really like it, but it looks like s#*t.

Never a boring day at the range :)

id choose glock, easier to get spare parts for and work on.

but in the end choose the pistol that u like
