325 wsm

Why did I buy a 325 WSM? Because they don't make a 338 WSM.

As for brass availability how hard is it to neck up 300WSM ? Not hard at all. 200 TSX at 2800 + fps is a darn good load for anything in NA out to 300 +
yards.

See, now that is what I just don't get. I easily get 2970 from a 200 gr. TSX out of my .300 Win. with better B.C. and sectional density added to the mix. If you are going to shoot light for caliber bullets, there is no point at all to the .325WSM. I can't understand why it is getting any attention at all.

Haters gonna hate!

My dad has one in the X-Bolt Medallion and I really love it! The whole argument where people say it doesn't do anything better than the other mentioned calibers.....think about it for a second. Other than on paper, if you're shooting a moose at less than 300 yards what advantage does a 300WM have over a 30-06 or a 338WM? Nothing really they will all do it's job and kill the moose. He's never had a hard time buying ammo. He gets it from Lebaron and prices and very comparable to other ammo out there. I find recoil to be no worse than that of a 300WM

I was just looking at a Sako 85 Finnlight and if they chambered it in 325WSM I would probably have one on order right now.

It's a CGN institution. How could a mod criticize something that's been around for 10+ years?
Maybe after 10yrs, it was a time for a change.

I wonder if they shouldn't have tried a 35 WSM when the 338 didn't work out. Or maybe they did?

It may have gone over better. That being said, it may have floated like a lead balloon. Who knows?

Myself personally, I really like rounds chambered in .35cal but they don't seem to be all that popular. Every time c-fbmi posts pics of his custom model 7 in .350 Remington magnum I have to clean the drool off my keyboard.

Me also. A couple I have in my favorite 35 chambering, the 358 Norma Magnum, a model 1651 Husqvarna

and a model 68DL Schultz & Larsen

Actually, the 325 does fill a small gap - a .308 cal is .015 below .323, and .015 above is the .338 cal. IMO it fills a void 'more vacant' than any other of the WSM family....well, with north american based cartridges, that is...
Still can't say it will last the test of time, but it is a cool oddball!

Yep - 338 and 358 both work out fine (better) for those of us who just went ahead and built our own - disbelieving factory eggspurt's gloomy explanations.

My own effort at a bigger/better WSM - which I like a lot;

That's pretty cool, do you have a thread about it somewhere? They should have made one from the factory, I think it would have been more sensible then making a .277 and .284 short mag. I've got a couple .375 barrels, and have been thinking a Browning BAR in .375 WSM would be pretty close to the ultimate equalizer for bumping into big brown things in the bush. Maybe a project one day.

Agree, it really does fill a gap. The 325WSM with a 200 grainer NAB or XP3 in a short action is a great set up. On top of it the recoil is not that much more than a 30-06...

Thanks for the links, and congrats on your nice ruger, but now you've got me curious about the 375 WSM's, I've searched the web and havent seen too much about them, apparently a few have been built with decent results and velocities, also a 416 WSM (alaskan?) but I'm always eager to hear more about 375 variants (except proclaimed kings).
