Lefty use of AR 15

Lol.
Are you left handed? How would you know what works if you aren't?

I think the lefty Stags are an answer to a question no left-handed shooter asked....

I have a collection of eight firearms, and they are all proper southpaw guns. Yes, I can use a "righty" gun, but why when I can purchase the proper equipment for me for not much more of a premium? Your attitude is very big 'L' Liberal, in the sense of "I know what's best for you"... Give your head a shake man....

No, his attitude is based on his experiences in the military. The army issues a rifle, they don't have one specifically for lefties so you need to learn to use the same thing as everyone else. Its called Adapt and Overcome. It is a right handed world and we lefties need to get used to that.

I've been using C-7's and C-8"s since I was 17 I'm now pushing 40. Lefty and never have a problem. Also used professionally Knights Armaments and Armalite .308 with no issues. Owned Norinco, Bushmaster and Armalite. Used with ambidexterous and non ambidexterous controls.
Havent tried the lefty stag at this point and I don't see a point in doing so as the AR15 is an easily adaptible rifle for the lefty.

In the civvies world there's left hand rifles.

Which in this case offer zero benefit for extra cost and less availability of parts

Have to agree. In fact I think the index finger works better than the thumb for manipulating the controls. One gun that really sucks to shoot for a lefty is the Tavor. The brass cuts my chin after a shot or two.

I'm not a bullpup fan. Not just because I'm a lefty I just like my AR's. I wish you could have the privilege of shooting a C9 left handed. If your shooting any other way than on the bipod that link and brass can do a number on your right arm after a few thousand rounds lol

Only if you leave it as a righty...when flipped over with the lefty bolt, it's perfect for a lefty! I've never noticed how skinny my AR's were until I picked up a fat Tavor...it's interesting.

No Burton bump ? IIRC somebody makes a clip on one.
Only AR that ever bounced brass off the right side of my ear defenders was an old Norc CQ311 with no Burton bump.
i have 2 ARs, 1 mini 14 and 1 M305 and have shot countless others.
only one AR has ever hit me in the face.... and of course its one that i own!
for some reason my one AR consistently fires the brass straight back hitting me in the right cheek all the time.
wife always laughs when i come home with one cheek all red.
Another left handed Ex CF guy chiming in .
With the left handed AR You get a left hand upper ,the lower is still right hand unless you upgrade it as well.
Go for a standard right handed upper , then you wouldn't have as big a problem sourcing parts , like "IF" you break a left handed bolt , get the lower set up for a lefty , that's , like as been said , is where a lefty needs it left handed.

I once bought a left-handed Remington 700 - thinking I was treating myself to something I somehow missed out in my young/dumb youth....
The fact the ejection port was on the left side really through me for a loop - I always saw it an advantage with autos, but never considered how much a right port for even a bolt gun is an advantage for a lefty.
I can turn a bolt as fast as any right handed fellow out there - it may seem funny to 'you guys', but the advantage is in clearing a mag or other malfunction - that is priceless.

Lol. Right, pray tell what to you is a 'proper south-paw gun' - careful, you are sounding like that Liebral you so eloquently describe.....
As for my "I know what's best for you" attitude, I could care less what the OP or anyone else for that matter decides to buy. Opinions were asked for and I gave mine. A few others have chimed in, and to a person, ones with any experience have recommended sticking to a regular AR...coincidence? Maybe, but doubtful. Ymmv....

I'm a lefty and yes no issue's with brass in the face with a right handed AR. If you are buying a shorty though (mine is an 8.5" barrel) watch out for unburnt powder burning your face as the rifle cycles. I was running some military 5.56mm and my reloads using BLC-2 and my face was hit with so much powder it felt like the right side of face was inside a sand blaster. Since changing to H4198 for my 5.56mm reloading, no issue's with powder burns on my face.

Just something to else to think about.

Yep, 100% agree. I do not own a single modern left handed firearm. Honestly I cannot imagine trying to use a left handed bolt gun. It would seem almost foreign. The only dedicated left handed firearm I own is a flintlock and the reasons for that are fairly obvious.

But. .. I'm not training. .. Or required to use issued kit. So why "adapt" when I can l procure myself something specifically tailored to me for roughly the same price?

I think I'd nearly be on fire before you could pull a C9 away from me if I ever got my mits on one;-)
