I got this from the Canada in the rough post on facebook. The voices of insanity are at it again. They are flooding the environment minister and premier with letters, asking them to end the two year trial spring bear hunt. I for one would like to see it expanded south.

So to counter that, the OFAH has a form letter in the link that I'm posting below.

I think Ms. Wynne needs to spend some time out of doors running trails in the spring up north, before deciding whether or not to scrap the hunt.

when the OFAH sticks up for hand gun shooters and black gun owners ill start sending out their form letter, until then they can fight their own battles

She's to busy telling 12 year olds the government of Ontario won't pay for drugs the kid needs to live while at the same time fighting the feds for health care for refugee claiments.

This trial hunt is designed to fail. Limited locals, no non resident allowed. It is like they want it to fail so they can say it had no effect on the number of nuisance bears and there for no further attempts will be made for a spring bear season.

It's obviously designed to drum up support for the liberals in Northern Ontario while attempting to minimize the outrage caused in Southern Ontario by playing it off as some noble pursuit of public safety.

Look at the latest Bear survey results on the MNR's website, 21261 licenses sold in 2012 with 5164 bear reported being harvested. Only 192 bear harvested in area 13 during the 2012 fall hunt. That includes non-resident tags for the fall, who aren't even allowed to participate in the new spring hunt. MNR's bear density map for area 13 shows 40-60 bear per 100 sq km. Even using the numbers they readily have access to, it's easy to see this isn't going to do fvck all.

I will still get a tag though, but I don't expect it to stick around long after the next provincial election.

Our area (Atikokan) is out of the plan area so no spring hunt for me. Our town council is lobbying the govt to extend the area to include Atikokan. (among others) Wait and see I guess. It is a shame that a great game animal can be made into a nuisance by tree huggers and spineless politicians.

Why not take the opposite stance and SUPPORT the OFAH and show them the error of their ways?

I was a member for over 20 years. I saw nothing for our part of the province coming from Peterborough. BUT I did see a lot of funds raised at our annual dinner going to Peterborough..... Sorry off topic and baited.

NO WAY ! the ofah can take a flying leap ... usto support them till they threw gun owners under the bus

this bear issue is a nightmare for some of us in northern communities ... i have bears that come into the back yard all summer long, in the middle of town ( Police and MNR do zero about it ! ) With so many kids on our street, its been a miracle no one has gotten hurt ... but several close calls !!!

She would only find more reasons to cancel it. This is going to end up being a public opinion. Any decision will be a controversial one.

Signed petition.

This isn't about the OFAH and black guns. This is about getting hunters the right to have their spring bear hunt back! In no way are you supporting the OFAH by sending this letter but you are showing support for bringing back a hunt that was stolen from hunters by the Animal Welfare Industry.

I've submitted my comments in support of the hunt through the EBR posting and signed the letter.

I've noted and respect the decision of black rifle owners who choose not to be involved in the issue because of the OFAH involvement. My MP and I will have to find topics of discussion other than rifle reclassifications when we meet this weekend.
