they already tried that once but it didnt work , im not sure they will again, they will go after the scary non restricted stuff first be cause except in quebec they '' dont know who has them '' at least the restricted stuff they can keep tabs on. any body else finds it funny that they have reclassified 3 of 4 different firearms since the destruction of the long gun registry ???? excuse me while i adjust my tin foil hat please ......

I have no idea why "They" think that……but it was mentioned on a few threads….wouldn't surprise me because aren't they "scary looking"
I would imagine they have all "military style" type semi-auto's in their sites……

and perhaps just trying to justify to myself to run out and buy one……..:cool:

A very nice one (billet and decently price) is Black Rain Ordnance through IRG...found here: http://www.irunguns.com/product.black-rain-stripped-lower-milled-18 or if you really want just a basic one (no frills, but better than Norc/NEA) try the Core15 one: http://www.irunguns.com/product.core-15-stripped-lower-receiver-56

I checked your links and a big difference in price, what about quality?
Reason I ask is I am seriously looking at the CORE15 TAC M4 currently being sold by one of our dealers.
Am I going to get high quality, looking at price I would assume so but your post has me questioning?
At this point I want to buy a complete firearm, I will probably look at a build down the road……

Cpt.Flan…….you are probably correct…….I already have one of the three you list so I will certainly be in that battle as well, should it come.

Thanks for the links.

I figure that if I get into these I'd like to one day buy or build a flat top target rifle with a heavy 18 or 20" bbl, since I've never been a real fan of short barrels in general.

I own the Black Rain one (it was about $30 cheaper a few months ago). It is simply fantastic...not as nice as (say) a Mega Arms but definitely worth the price once you factor in the billet/trigger guard (and cool biohazard symbol...my preference). Add in a DD LPK and you'll have a quality lower. Grab a quality upper from the EE (some deals to be had there) and you'll have a fantastic AR around the $1k mark. On par with rifles that would cost $1.5k+. Or save yourself the hassle and grab this Spikes from Questar: https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopexd.asp?id=1794&bc=no (it was on sale a couple time recently for just over $1k but is still a good price at $1299...again, my opinion).

Of course, there is the ultra economical way of CanAm and Marstar. Nothing wrong with them, definitely a great way to learn the workings, etc. I had one initially for my kids to learn on/beat up. Sold it off after they got proficient.

There is nothing they can do about AR, it is specifically listed as restricted.

Actually, it is M16 and its variants that are listed as restricted. Technically, AR15 other than the listed models should be non-restricted.

What I draw from that Global News pdf regarding "AR15", is that the RCMP wants to captures rifles that uses AR15 "technology". Hence, SR22 with the "AR15" collapsable stock and pistol grip was mentioned. Through that route, they can restrict quite a few rifles and put them into the registry of restricted.

Remember those .22 rimfire that looks like M16 and AK back in the old days? They were all either restricted or prohibited, according to what they look alike

For the price of a Core15 TAC M4...you can get a complete Daniel Defense rifle. Depending on what you want, both Core15 or Daniel Defense is good.

That pretty much says it all, when you want to describe to someone how effed up the classification system is.

I remember looking at the AR .22 rifles way back in the old pocketbook sized S.I.R mail order catalogues and wishing I could have one.

Sigh…….yes it sure can be frustrating with the mindset of the people making these types of decisions….hopefully we can be heard and see favourable results…...

I purchased a few Palmetto stripped lowers a year ago for I believe $100 from Saskatoon gunworks.. Also Aero Precision has some very reasonably price lowers that a great quality that can be brought in. Like its been said before the RCMP cant prohibit the AR-15 without an OIC but the more that are registered to Canadian gun owners helps our cause and show the public that these are commonly owned by law abiding gun owners and not used to rob banks and shoot up schools.

You still have those PSA lowers? Can you bring in their CHF uppers? Those are sweet...(ok, I better stop...I have an angry wife as it is with all my purchases lately). :)
