Have been trying for quite some time to get my hands on a Mini-14, mostly for plinking, and also for varmints etc. Looking at this because of its durability and reliability. However, I am having a hell of a time locating one to buy! Everywhere is perpetually on back-order. Any of you know where to purchase? Also for any of you owners out there, what model do you have?(Ranch,Target) Thanks!

I have a mini-14 target thumb hole that I'm going to be selling might try and sell it here when I get approved to buy sell and trade. Shoots tight groups "3 shots well under 1 @100yds" but has to be kept clean or it will jam if I where to keep it I would clean the action often. For what I want I'll trade off some accuracy for glock or tavor like reliability.

That's the only one I could find for ya man and it's a target model. Most people don't seem to want them and I can't say I blame them. Mini's a great for their portability, reliability, lightness and the fact that they are quick to bring into action if you need to get a shot off RFN. I just don't see a use for the target model but to each their own.

I had a blued/synthetic ranch rifle for a little while this past year and it was great. I purchased it from IRG and they are good to deal with. No hassles or anything. The only reason I got rid of it is because I got Tavor fever really bad and had to sell off some guns to fund one.

I traded off my Target model (didn't like it, too front heavy). I have a new Ranch model now. I was able to find an old folding butt stock for it. I really like this rifle, but have not yet fired it very much to know just how it shoots.

Seeems like these guns show up in waves. I was lusting for one a few years back. Nobody ever had them in stock then one day they just started comming outta the woodwork! I got a 582 series ranch in 2012. However, once I got it I counld wait to get rid of it. The trigger is junk, and its reliability was - well pretty unreliable. Constant failure to feed and failure to extracts. WITH 4 different factory mags. Never again.

after the 858 getting banned, don't think for a second that the mini 14 isn't on their short list.

Mini 14's are great little guns, I went with an SKS simply due to the SKS being $750 cheaper then the mini-14. I don't really care if the mini 14 in 7.62x39 (ranch30) is more accurate, seeing as I was technically capable of getting over 3000 rounds of ammo on the cost savings. ;) extra trigger time will out weigh a slightly more accurate gun (for me anyway) every time.

you can't go wrong with one if you're wanting one though, good luck finding.

Email from Cabelas. Even they don't know lol
Thank you for your recent email.

Unfortunately we do not get expected dates for our backordered items. It is up to the manufacturers to send the shipments to us, and they do not provide us a date in case they cannot fulfill our request by that time. It can range from a few weeks to a few months. Our website will update the status once it comes into stock or you can always call customer service and they will be happy to check the article status for you. If you place an order one will be reserved for you, and your credit card won't be charged until the item ships out.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

So just wait indefinitely until one day a charge may show up on my CC, or the rifle shows up at my house? Haha, that sucks :(

Love mine, and have had it up for sale once...with all the extra mags and such. Removed the handguard for one which is way cooler...in my mind. had it in a folding stock as well, but lost the interest. I found it to be a picky shooter, preferring heavier (re: cheap) ammo to the lighter bullets. Helluva fun and plucky shooter!

I bought mine in the late 80's the ranch rifle, it has been an excellent firearm, I must have over 5000 rounds through it and no problems, the accuracy is as good as you can expect from a barrel the size of a pencil, get it to hot and the accuracy starts to slip, other than that a very good gun

That's on 9ave SE if im not mistaken?

Yes, they're worth giving a call.

Other options you may not know about (I haven't checked availability): The Gun Dealer (McAdam, NB), Grouse River Outfitters, Italian Sporting Goods (Vancouver).

IRUNGUNS is showing one on their Canadian site, and a couple of options on their American site (they handle the importation for you).

Grouse river looks like they have a stainless in stock, but maybe that changes if you add it to the cart. Some were lucky enough to get one from irunguns :) good luck

Friend of mine has the target mini 14 and he can easily shoots 1/2 inch groups at 100 m… I have a Ranch that shoots federal black box 223 AR ammo into 2 inches consistently @ hundred meters… It's a keeper
