have you ever looked at a gun and thought.... "OMG, that gun is hideous! i wouldn't shoot that if my life depended on it, much less OWN one!"

then, over the course of time you find yourself looking at the same gun and thinking.... "well, i guess its not THAT ugly... if you catch it in the right light...."

then, "you know, thats not a bad looking gun."

until "i wonder who has that on sale?"

i found myself doing this recently with those new S&W 627 PC wheel guns with the slab barrels and the strange looking grips.
had to choke back the vomit when i saw them.
but now when i see them i find myself checking the prices, which inevitably leads me to purchasing one.

the S&W performance centre revolvers are either hit or complete miss for me.
For me, it was the sig p210. 5 years ago didn't really understand the considerable appeal, didn't think it looked that good. I preferred the modern designs - 226/220s. Started reading about the 210s, appreciating its heritage and engineering more and more. Just picked one up and now think it is the close to being the most perfectly built, best handling and beautiful pistol I've held. Times and tastes change.

The exact thing happened to me a week ago. Hated revolvers until I watched a hickok45 video explaining the letter designations. I was hooked on this gun ever since. Classy as F***. Cant find it anywhere though.

Happened to me with Steyr M9, kinda liked it when say in person, that was back in '06. Turned out to be a pretty disappointing gun...

I just got mine last month and love it. It is my favourite of many handguns now. Just put on a set of Hogue Cocobolos for a better grip yesterday, and the stock grips went on my .44 magnum N frame. You'll never regret buying this gun and probably never sell it. I wanted more of a shine to mine than the bead blast finish and used some Mothers mag polish from Canadian Tire to do the trick. I love the 627 from the start. The only thing I hated was cleaning the damn thing so I traded it for a M&P R8 instead. Now that thing is cool!

My dad picked up one of those, I'll finally get to try it next month when I see him, very interested to give that one a whirl.

Probably, and me too, is just the hands on experience. Swinging out the cylinder or loading gate, loading and seeing things move when the hammer is cocked and trigger pulled and then the unloading procedure. Not having to search for empties is a bonus. But I understand why some prefer semi's also, each to their own.

I must admit, I first saw this and thought "gee willickers, way to ruin such a superb gun".

About ten minutes later I was considering buying one of those weights. Sometimes I wonder why I never have any money, then I realize it's because of the internet.

Yes, hideous to the nth degree. I wonder how it shoots though. My 629, 4.2" can be painfull as hell by the 15th round and all over the target.

Groupings suck with such a short barreled 629 but still I need more practice. Ammo is tough to find in .44 Mag and I haven't started reloading so I am gonna toss a coin on this one.

Fugly, but if it shoots like the 627, I'd still buy it to experiment. The problem in Canada is that we cannot hunt with these things so this fact alone defeats philosophy of use.

Why, oh why does it have such a long tapered barrel? Door-wedge gun.

I still don't like this one.
