JR Cox comments on the Swiss Arms situation

So what made you start all this? They a different colour or just because they did not have the "TSE" logo ?lol
This was towards JR's comment...

Now my understanding is that the rifles in question were converted auto receivers and not classic greens

No. Those rifles (via the rifle sent to them by JR) were confirmed to be Semi Auto only. They were refurbished by SAN to be are mechanically identical to the Classic Greens. The problem is that the RCMP did not properly vet the Swiss Arms when they first came into the country 12 years ago (at JRs doing). Now the RCMP thinks that they are variants of the SG55x series, not the SG54x series.
If JR had not sent in the rifle, perhaps this would have come up some other way. Perhaps not. It certainly did come up because of JRs actions, which in the light of the CSCs take on the subject:

http://www.theshootingcentre.com/sans-overview

makes JR culpable.

You guys are wasting resources on this right now. Crucify JR after this issue is dealt with. Nothing the antis like more than us infighting in a time if crisis.

This is incorrect: none of the receivers were converted auto, but the RCMP technicians didn't ask so didn't know better.
then why the ban if nothing was different from 12 plus years ago?

When the RCMP was doing it's investigation and Cox was supplying the info it must have come to an impasse or we would not be where we are today with all the rifles being prohibited. Something must have happened, why it appears to be a secret nobody is saying.
Mr.Cox do you care to comment as to how/why communications stopped with the RCMP and why we are now looking at a complete product ban?

Why don't you tell the truth Mr. Cox? You got greedy because some body in Calgary brought in a similar firearm bought from the Shooting Centre, your ex business partner. You felt that you should be the only one selling this particular firearm and called for a reclassification.
You are causing a lot of good people a headache!
From now on I'll take my business elsewhere and will tell all my students to do the same!
Thx.

Yeah okay… He's a coward and he's proven that by his video, absolutely pathetic. If he actually had guts, he would've put the video up many, many months ago when he did this... Period.

Please, don't hold back. Tell me what you really think....

I am telling the truth and I am sleeping fine (except for this damn jetlag).

You keep calling me greedy. Obviously neither of you have actually met me. You can call me a lot of things: Arrogant, pigheaded, opinionated and sometime (according to my wife) a bit bombastic. Any of those things and I'm guilty as charged.

But "greedy"... Sorry, wrong guy. I share and I share a lot.

I also have not been the importer of these firearms since about 2008. Since then, I have been a dealer like everone else, getting product from the official importer. There are literally hundreds of dealers in Canada authorized to sell the Swiss Arms rifles.

I had no real financial to gain by reporting the bogus rifles to the authorities. Even if the CSC lost the rifles, I am still not the only place in town to get these rifles.

Nor did I want a review of the classification.

What I do question is those of you that think importing dubious rifles, lying about the origins and then diverting blame is acceptable behaviour.

Was my motivation pure? Nope. Once I realized it was my ex-business associates playing loose with the rules, I lost sight of the bigger picture.

What I think is cowardly is those that are willing to easily dispense hate and vile on the internet hiding behind a user name. If you really want to stand up to me, with any credibility; write me with your real name on your real email address. Or better yet, come in and threaten me in person, not simply assault me verbally on a virtual board.

Since most of the "vocal" anti-JR posts come from locations coincidentally close to me, this should not be much of a burden.

I am over at IWA right now, but feel free once I am back next week to come and rant in person or on the phone to me. Until then, please keep the comments civil.

I am willing to take my lumps and have not asked anyone to censor the discontent, but the posts that purport fact that is actually fiction or misinformed opinions based on stories written by those simply with an axe to grind will not be tolerated.

There has been an all out assault on gun owners this week by the RCMP:

1. The reclassification of the SAN rifles
2. The reclassification of the CZ 858 rifles
3. The change in the definition of antique firearms

Is this a coincidence? Hardly.

Did I hand them an opportunity? Yup. Am I sorry? Yup. As stated, earlier, if I did not let my emotions get the better of me, I may have dealt with things differently, but I personally think the end result would still put us right here, right now. Except I wouldn't be the Justin Bieber of the gun world.... The guy to hate.

But if anyone thinks for a second that this was not coming regardless, I know of some beach front property in Arizona that is for sale cheap....

Summary:

1) call me what you want, but quit using the word "greedy" as it is not appropriate.

2) better yet, call me names in person as it shows me what kind of a man you really are.

3) this storm was coming.

4) we're here, now save some of the energies you have to be part of the solution. You can come in and pound on my desk once we've beaten back the true enemies.

Till then, I'm going to go on still keeping pressure on my elected officials with letters and emails to show them my personal resolve is not lessening and I ask you to do the same.

Once we get something concrete from the RCMP and the elected, we can then formulate a real gameplan and see where, besides a letter campaign we need to focus our energies and resources: both manpower and financial power.

Sincerely,

JR

Taking compensation instead of fighting, we will see more legally owned firearms being taked away... united we stand! No need to hate at this time, let's all fight this battle togerther...

Please, don't hold back. Tell me what you really think....

I am telling the truth an......................blah blah blah.........insert rational explanation here.......plan and see where, besides a letter campaign we need to focus our energies and resources: both manpower and financial power.

Sincerely,

JR

Hey buddy, don't sweat it. One way or another these guys were coming for everything anyways.

Can you imagine if a run of American SCAR's with 18.6inch barrels showed up for sale at a small dealer who imported them from a guy who knows a guy at a gun show.....WOW...I bet everyone in the firearms community would keep their mouths shut and keep them low profile so they wouldn't be found out....yeah right. An issue is an issue is an issue. If someone finds a switch inside a Tavor that converts to full auto by reversing it, someone would report it. Guaranteed. That's the right thing to do. You admitted your tact may have been off....that happens to the best of us. End result? No, RCMP are out to decimate the gun culture anyway.

Next time I'm in I'll give you a hug. ;)

If you find me an AICS 2.0 stock for a Savage short action I'll buy the land you have for sale on Amazon.

You're 100% right. People need to start channeling their energy into the long war. I have a couple firearms that I can easily see being next on this list. I don't care about TSE, no offense (unless you get me that stock..). If it wouldn't have been TSE at the start of this then it would have been someone else, guaranteed.

Well if we get a scrapping of c-68 and a re-write of the firearms act because of all this you'll be a hero LOL .
