The info Reported on CGN recently about the FRT changes on the French 1873 revolver by some members was only half correct.
After seeing the compleat French 1873 FRT report there are two listings in 45 Auto one in 11 mm
One FRT does list 45 auto as Restricted.(which is still a mistake)
But another right below it list another FRT number as Antique in 45 auto.
Im not sure if it was just added or was there all along.
There is also one in 11MM which is of course Antique.

So to be clear FRENCH 1873 in 45 AUTO is and always was a perscribed antique FRT number 17329-3.

No, the info reported was correct as it only spoke to the restricted entry for the .45acp conversion. Nobody has claimed the 11mm entry changed.

FRT# 17329-2
Make: French Service
Model: 1873
Caliber: 45auto
Level: Non commercial customization
Legal classification: Restricted
Legal Authority: CC 84(1)"restricted firearm" para (a)

If you are looking at an FRT print out the -3, to my knowledge, is a new entry. What I'm looking at has two entries, one antique and one restricted. At any rate if you're looking at a updated FRT the fact -2 still exists as restricted is incorrect in the database and can cause a legal nightmare for the owners. This is not reason to relax in the slightest.

They changed it or altered it after i called and pointed out the error on monday i guess, i did ask them to.
One had been found as haveing a 1976 barrel address (A typo in some report ) and someone at cfc took that to meen they were made post and pre 1898.

Anyway the main thing is they added the correct one.
I thought people should know that if a CO or cop looks up the FRT number i posted the gun will come back antique.

How recent was the alteration to restricted? It seems like it's happened quite recently because the system automatically confirmed all MAS 1873's as antique until recently.

I truly hope the new FRT# does avoid legal hassle for the owners. I've never known any officer not to err on the side of caution however. The fact -2 still exists is completely in error even if they truly did find a re-barreled one, and can at the very least cause confiscation and investigation of a legal antique.

The FRT I'm looking at was from March 3rd. Cyclone got news a day or two prior to that.

It was a Typo in someones report they saw 1976 instead of 1876 or something like that, i didnt care was just happy it was a mistake not a change in policy on that gun.

I will ask about removeing the restricted one as its B.S that its there and could still cause concern.
The FRT is still full of mistakes tho and theres still lot of guns listed as modern when they should be antique i guess there slowly changeing things.
Theres lots of guns sold as antique in the last 14 years that are listed as prohibs and restricted in the FRT always has been.

Im just trying to post something positive here tho.
