I bought my first restricted firearm today from Wholesale sport in Langley a Ruger SR9. I was told to expect the transfer to take about two days or more at least.

Since the CFO office is just 5 min from where I live I decided to stop by and check to see if I could maybe speed things up. I spoke with a great guy at the office named Bill who said he'd check to see if it was possible to do it that day... 10 min later I was walking out with my transfer. Back to the store and the amazed staff finished the paperwork and I was out the door and back home with my pistol in just over an hour.

I think that might be some kind of a record...

anyway I know the CFO offices get a lot of bashing but anytime I've gone into the office here they've been very helpful and go out of their way to accommodate. So Kudos to the staff there

and here is a pic of the new baby

Congrats on the new gun,a fellow CGN'er let me try his SR9 and it was great. Never seem to see them on the shelf or I probably would have bought one by now.
The B.C. CFO seems to have picked up the pace a lot which is a good thing because it was pretty bad a while ago.
Just curious are there any Ranges out in Surrey?

No ranges right in Surrey no, I'll likely get a basic membership at DVC because the members hours work good for me.

I have had to call the BC CFO a few times in the last month to renew my PAL and get the LTATT and I must say they have been quite speedy and helpful / professional.

Agreed. I had contacted them about something and got a call back (some time later, but it wasn't an urgent matter anyway) from Terry Hamilton herself. Business-like (a little stressed, I think) but very pleasant. I've also called the CFC a couple of times in the last week and both times the call was answered in less than 15 mins. and I had very friendly people on the other end. Nice to be able to say something positive.

Not sure if you know but there is a skills and drills night at abbotsford club every friday. Check out activeshooter.ca. I bet you would have more benefit in spending the membership fees doing drills there. It's highly informative and beneficial.

I just got a .22 pistol. The Seller called in the Transfer at end of a day, I called the next morning. By the end of the day transfer was complete. SO yes things are speeding up big time.
