I have posted the entire 1994 Century Arms catalogue before but some times I find it interesting to compare some of the pricess from then to now. Some of the same pieces have been imported recently by others, (or entirely new ones like SVT40's), while some haven't re-appeared. This doesn't necessarily make them rare or if at all but at least you have a reference point as to their original retail prices. In some ways 20 years is long ago but in others still kind of near. For example some Mauser rifles are starting to get priced a little steep, Turkish, Syrian, Spanish etc. Yes I understand inflation bla bla but this isn't some long rambling story about sh####it being a nickel back in grandpas day

Interesting to see some of these old prices. The Turkish and Spanish Mausers really haven't increased too drastically. There seems to be very little interest or demand for them even though they are well built and in the case of the Turkish ones, have a great history behind them. You often see these linger on the EE or other websites at prices around the 250 mark.

The Syrian ones don't seem to have a high demand either but I've only seen 1 for sale on here as far as I can remember and one other one at a dealer. Definitely a little harder to find and they've been priced accordingly. Took me years to find one.

My rc 1936 kar98k is CAI import marked on the front of the barrel. My guess is she was an early import from the 90s or early 2000s. Some don't like the import marks but I view them the same as a passport stamp; a point of passage before coming to me.

Well, the gun show is coming up in Saskatoon but the prices have been way out to lunch there as of late but I've got my pennies saved up. Every once and a while you find some reasonably priced stuff with good bores. I do wish Century would come back but the lorax tugged his tale and flew off forever.

I have a 1993 catalogue. Everything but the SKS has gone up exponentially.

As I recall, hasn't the SKS actually gone down in price, at least the Russian models? I seem to recall century catalogues from around that time asking in the 280-300 range for them? I could be mistaken.

Also, were those Syrian Mausers Yugoslav made? I've seen a few Syrian marked Yugo Mausers, but I'm not sure if all of them were or not.

Yes, I was selling those back.

Century is only gone from Canada other than offices. Their monkeys are still assembling rifles with zero QC, Stateside.
If you want to compare prices, you need to look at the average wages in '93 too.

I think for "Generation Screwed" of today, wages were better, higher, and had more buying power in 1993 than in 2014...in some cases for the same job, it paid more in 1993 than in 2014...

Century still has their warehouse in Montreal and some of the original Canadian staff are still working in Canada at their own business now, a mini Century of sorts. Sunray is right about the US situation though.
