Very interesting. I saw this on another forum. One of the things they liked was "it's easier to shoulder". I guess the M60 has come a long way to beat out the FN MAG/HK 121 etc...

You had me at 'flexible vekselpibehylster'.

LMG bacon - I can only imagine... wrap the barrel in bacon, and it's done in one 200 round belt! Deeelicious.

Looks like a LH shooter will have problems with the top cover latch mechanism digging into his cheek.

What's the pattern the guy in the picture is wearing? It looks like a flecktarn pattern with colours from a cadpat pallette or something. It's nice.

Then there's real Danish camoflauge:

M/84, and it's exactly as you describe and yes it is very nice camo. When you can find the HMAK issued gear it's very well made though quite heavy for hot weather. They have a desert version too though I prefer the German color variation.

The flak vests with shoulder armor are pretty kickass looking, if you can find one (I did).

The M60 of old is not the M60E6, Its looking like the world is waking up the the fact the M60E6 is miles ahead of the FN MAG

I think the Danes are going multi-cam-ish, and ditching the Non-digitalized Cadpat like pattern.
Really? but there current pattern works so well in woodlands. I know they were using multicam in Afghanistan. i think its more their arid pattern.

And i wonder if they changed the way the trigger group is held in. so it doesnt fall out. but they might have done that on the earlier models.

The M60 looks like a great tool in this configuration for the patrolling soldier and for short range fighting. The test were all conducted as part of deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan. However less range than the M62... No ability for mounting it in a Tripod which is essential to defensive operations and night firing at pre determined sectors. I cant see why it would replace the M62 when in reality the M60 should supplement the Squad and Platoon level firepower. On a positive note they are keeping the M62 around as weapon mounted MG's in our Leopards, M113's etc. So hopefully the M62 will not be completely gone by the time we need a proper support weapon and not this little pea shooter :).

A few years back the Danish army introduced the SAW as a replacement weapon for the M62. But it was unable to replace the fighting qualities that the M62 posses and I hope this will be the case yet again. But hey for an army who usually buys Canadian C7 rifles and lots of quality German equipment I guess it was about time we spent some money with Uncle Sam again...

The M84 system is primarily for the units operating at home. The new Multicam is currently for deployed units but all units will eventually switch over to the new Multicam.
