Hi, I have two questions about the SKS rifles.
I am in possession of a Chinese SKS that I think may be a civilian/export model.
It has "Made in China" an American city written on it in english on the left-rear portion of the receiver.
I bought this thing for a project just to mess around with, but I didn't want to butcher it if it had some historical value (even if it is an SKS).
The front sight and bayonet lug pins have been drilled out by a previous owner, and the wooden stock had been painted with latex house paint (cleaned off now) and was lengthened about 3 inches (very well done I might add).
I'm assuming its fairly borked anyway, but I didn't want to do something I'd regret later, hence why I didn't choose a brand-new Russian or Chinese model.
Note: If anybody has an SKS that is butchered, but is shootable, let me know.
My other question is, are the parts interchangeable between Chinese and Russian models?
I have what I suspect is a Russian SKS receiver (that had a brass deflector installed permanently into the side), and I would like to use it, again for some fun.
Thanks.
