What about the Sako A7 gun package that is bundled with Burris rings and mount along with a Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40? Seems really affordable really for the quality of the package...

Yeah, those aren't bad, the Fullfield II scopes are great entry-level scopes. A cut above the Buckmasters, VX-1, and 3200 in my experience.

A brother in law bought a savage 30-06 scope package. It got him through this deer season, but the range sessions before deer season involved re-zeroing that Bushnell scope every time. The Redfield Revenge i put on my .300wm Vanguard S2 didn't need to be touched after i zeroed it. Between the range trips and that season i put 100-120 rounds through the rifle.

I'd stay away from the package. Even if this means letting the rifle sit in the safe for a bit - it will serve as an incentive to get a decent scope on there asap.
