I have been thinking about rebarreling my sako 223. There are 4 cartridges I am considering and would like to hear some pros and cons of each. Also don't forget, I don't "need" any of these rounds - this is just for fun.

The choices are: 17 Remington, 204 ruger, plain old 222, or the 6mm-204

I'm pretty big on being able to buy factory ammo should the need arise, so my nickel goes to the 222. It's the only one on there that I've seen ammo on the shelf for.

That being said, before I bought my 22-250 I passed up on a Savage 340 in 222 for a good price. Still kicking myself for that one.

Of the ones listed I opted for the 222 a classic round. In its day a very popular and accurate round. No reason it is still not an accurate round.

Well, I guess I would be asking, why spend a bunch of money to turn a good rifle into something else? I would sell the Sako and buy whatever my little heart wanted.

(And now that I know there is something called a 6 mm-204, that might just be the one................);)

Be happy, spend the kerch$ng on the sled............................
Just think, it'll be ready for the next season.

Lol, I am. I found a mechanic who is walking me thru / helping me rebuild it. Should be done on Saturday if my parts come in. Just in time to put it away.... :(
