I have no idea why I wanted one of these....I'm sure I'm not the only one out there:rolleyes: you only live once....
I decided on the 9.3 b/c I can't stand heavy rifles....I'm sure if I was going to Africa and shooting a 450 NE, things would be different...but I'm not. I was lucky enough to be able to handle several double a few years ago (thanks to a great CGN member that I phoned up out of the blue...he invited me right over, scotch in hand:p). I decided right there, that I liked the lighter weight of the 9.3's, 375's/460's where just not what I was looking for....now. looking at the weight of this one, I might be in for a awakening when i pull the trigger, but we'll see....she's for carrying and hunting, not shooing thousands of rounds through. so, how's it feel compared to a 15000$ double....I don't know, I can't remember.....but it feels good, locks up tight, swings really nice...it comes up and the sights are right there.....even came with a scope mount....I might try that for regulating. Anyway, I'll post back when I've gotten to the range.....I ended up going for the FAIR b/c I found it used, $ was right.....I got scared off from the Sabattis, I was close to ordering a Chapuis, but I really didn't like the look of the fore end, I wanted more of a splinter style, I was close to ordering the Merkel...but just more $ then I wanted to spend....Anyway, you only live once and I'm pretty tickled for far

I've used that phrase to justify everything in both of my gun safes, lol. And I have no remorse or guilt about it.

I just checked out thei website. Nice looking stuff. I'm pondering a combi deluxe in 20 guage x some coool rifle calibre. 6.5 maybe?

You will find the 9.3 kicks a little harder than you expect from a light double from the bench, but is very enjoyable standing. I have a Merkle, very light and a pleasure to carry!
Hope you enjoy it as much as myself!
What weight is your gun regulated for?

Dale

Test target says 16.5, so I'm guessing 250grs.....

According to the Geco website, a 255gr bullet at 2640 ft/sec......Looks like i'm going to be trying the 250 Accubond for sure!!

Well, shot her today. I'll post the target pic later....certainly got a bit of recoil, but not too bad. I'm not sure I'll be loading up any of those 310gr Woodleights, but with the 250 AB, I think it will work...I got them running 2425 fps right now. The stock shape seems to give me a good "cheek slap" right now....might be the LOP is a bit short...or I'm just not use to the Hog Back shape yet. Pretty fun though!!!

Well, here's the first target...not bad considering I'm just shooting off my one knee at about 50-60 yards. Pretty sure I pulled that R4 shot. So, more or less 2 groups, one left, one right. load 1 was 53gr of IMR 4064, then going up to 57 with load 5. One shot from each barrel. 57grs was moving 2425fps, so that's about the same as the factory stuff that the gun is regulated to. Being so light she certainly jumps a bit, but not too bad with the 250gr bullets...a recoil pad would help. My major issue was the way the stock shape wacked me in the cheek....but maybe that just takes some getting use to. Anyway, it sure was fun...what a dream to carry. I'll try and get out again here with a few of the 57gr loads.

When I did load development for my 470 I shot it sitting off cross sticks (I have the two-piece Africa style sticks). It was punishing but it was the best compromise between natural shooting and stability. And I don't feel less manly to admit I wore my recoil shield during shooting.

recoil shield is a very useful tool ....

a 6lb 9,3s starting to get your attention on my opinion.

nice rifle btw.

Ya, I'ts a little on the light side....I might throw a bit of lead shot in the butt and see how that feels....but with 250's I think it will be OK....full house 286's might be a bit much
Sure is going to be nice carrying up and down the hills looking for an elk!!!!

Johnny ya bought a double. Plane leaves for joburg march 2016. Get your scratch together and let's bugger off to zululand. That double would be just fine on nyala, mmmmm kudu and whatever else your wife lets you.
