so i just came back from the range. i strip my gun for cleaning and find a broken Striker. Here are some photos... my question is, is this a part prone to failure, is this bad for the firearm, is this normal and what caused it to crack?

This should go back for warranty at Movie Arms in Toronto. I just sent mine in for a shattered breech block and the striker was showing the same signs as yours. Is your firearm throwing brass huge distances as well and denting casings?

rather than sending the whole rifle in , they may just want the striker but talk to them first .

There are piston & gas porting issues with the 5.56 models....there is an older thread in the red rifle section on this issue, just for reference. But yes, they may want just the striker.

They discovered the port issue back in 2013. My rifle is stamped 2014. I'm just going to assume they fixed the problem by now. I checked my striker and there is no signs of wear, But I'm at an indoor range and can't see how high my brass is flying. I really hope mine is okay!

Not sure about how far the casing goes due to shooting indoors, it does have dented casing and

Can you tell me when your rifle was made? Right infront of the charging handle and below the sight there will be a 13 or 14. What does yours say?

My advice is that before buying this rifle, ask the seller to verify the number on the right side of the rear sight and make sure it says 14 or more. Some 13 rifles still had issues.

Outside I was getting about 4m from the flying brass.....indoors my flying brass kept shattering lights over top of the firing line!

I had contacted North Sylva before about getting spare parts but they send all their parts over to Movie Arms for repairs. There is a 5 yr warranty on your toy.
