Colour case hardened Greener GP

I spent the weekend visiting a retired buddy recently. We used to do a lot of shooting together and he was a mentor to me when I was getting into the shooting and reloading game. We had a great visit and before I left he told me he had something he wanted to give me. My old chum never had any kids and he's often said that I'm like his son. He knows the appreciation that I have for the small frame Martini rifles, after all he was the one that introduced me to them. He grew up in England and back in the seventies on one of his trips home to see his parents he brought back a pretty little Greener GP 12 gauge. Well, he passed it on to me at the end of the weekend. Here's a couple of pics of this unique shotgun. It can be taken down, has a beautiful oil finish on the wood and the colour case hardening is great.

He wasn't sure of the manufacture date as he bought it used. His guess was from the fifties or early sixties. It's chambered in 12 gauge 2 3/4" and has a full choke.

That is a beautiful shotgun, it just stands out like a diamond compared to the modern day shotguns. You have a real fine quality piece of work. Congratulations, you have a real good friend to have given you that to remember him by.

Thanks for the kind words. I agree whole heartedly with you. He's a great friend and I hope he's around for many years to come. As for the shotgun, agreed as well. You certainly won't find that kind of craftsmanship on the rack at Cabelas.

Also a treasure coming to you from a friend like that....... This is the reason that firearms exist from 100's + years ago.

I can remember when those guns were for sale. I suspect they are not common here because they were significantly more expensive that the other singles readily available.
