Okay so I have been reading and reading and so far have learned; The VTR uses standard commercial AR stuff. I would like to change from the fixed A2 stock to a 6 position collapsable. Does anyone know if the buffer/extension tube that comes on the VTR fixed A2 will work with the standard commercial stocks? Can I just removed the fixed and slide on a collapsable? Or will I need to change the buffer tube too? Is there different buffer tubes? Thanks for any and all help!

hmm I watched a couple youtube videos where the stock came off with a screw diver and crescent wrench. I'm thinking I should try and buy the whole buttstock and tube as one package. There is a nice buttstock for sale locally but no tube so i'm just trying to figure out what I would need to buy to make the switch.
I had a VTR but sold it so I kind of know what im talking about lol.
I'm 99% sure your fixed stock VTR has a buffer tube inside it. A screw driver in the back of the stock should let it slide off the tube and the tube should screw out of the back of the gun.
However, the fixed stock buffer will NOT hold a collapsible stock. Yours will be smooth and the one you need had a fin on the bottom with cut outs for each stock position.
The easiest thing to do is buy a complete collapsible AR-15 stock (with out the buffer and spring if you can) and it will replace your fixed completely.
(My VTR had a collapsible stock and my AR-15 is fixed)

Thanks, So to be clear. I need a Commercial receiver extension tube not a1 or a2. No spring or buffer needed. And then the stock of course.
