.45 vs 9mm

^ Exactly. Both aren't really that powerful. 9mm is much cheaper to shoot. Cheaper ammo > more practice > greater proficiency. At the end of the day who cares.

:sucks: is this a real question or did someone rack there brain for hours trying to come up with something they thought would get a lot of replies? FTR, clips hold paper together and my daughters hair out of her eyes.

You can get a handgun that outperforms some rifle cartridges for kinetic energy inside 100.

All common handgun calibers are underpowered. If you want the upperhand in a gunfight, bring a rifle or a shotgun. If a hangun is your only option, than you should use what you can shoot well under stress.

As for sporting purposes, I prefer steel guns like my Springfield Armory 1911 and my S&W mod66 but that's my personnal preference. Your favorite hangun/calibre should be one you are comfortable with and can make decent hits with but above all, one you have fun with.

Round for round I prefer the .45 vs 9mm. I believe other variables play an important part of this discussion. Steel vs polymer, round capacity and of course practice are to be considered. In the end .45 leave a much bigger "footprint" which equates to more damage. (9mm is a very effective round when other factors are accounted for). Just my 2 cents :)

Shoot one foot with a 9mm, then shoot the other with a .45 Auto.

Make sure your aim is good so the wounds are equal. Keep your focus when the doctor yells "Damn it, tell me which foot hurts more!"

Then you'll be able to tell us here which you prefer. I'd really like to know. Anyone want to volunteer?

No but really, the more you shoot the better you get. Cheaper to shoot, you shoot more, you shoot more you get better.

No.

There's a huge difference between mindlessly expending ammo at the range and going about your training in a structured manner, usually under the pressure of a clock. I would bet money on the guy who shoots 500 rounds a month through a series of structured drills over the guy who shoots 2000 rounds a month dumping mag after mag at the target just because he thinks it's fun.

P.S. This thread should be nuked from orbit. Only way to be sure.
