Why Can't I Hunt with my Black Rifle?

well, until a couple of weeks ago I could go hunting with my GREEN rifle. Deer taken in the Interlake region of Manitoba.

Because of at least two things: 1. They have a .30 caliber clip capable of firing 30 rounds in a half second. :p 2. They have the shoulder thing that goes up. and, of course, they are black. :jerkit:

My wife looks at her AR 15 and then my Mini 14 and asks - "What's the difference? 'Sides, the Mini was used at L'Ecole Polytechnique, not the AR."

I tell her that if she insists on interjecting logic, reason and common sense into the discussion, I'm out of it ...... ;>)

Even better. What is the difference between these two rifles?

The answer is that functionally there is ZERO difference between them. Both are semi-auto hunting rifles sporting a scope. The only difference is how the rifle is laid out ... how it looks. Its like the difference between a Honda Civic and a Ford Focus. Yet the anyone can buy the Honda and drive it anywhere while a special licence is required to buy the Ford and it can only be driven on a racetrack with special permission.

In reality there is one other difference between the two. Turns out the non-restricted Remington 7400 is chambered in 30-06 which is MUCH more powerful than the restricted AR15's puny .223 round.

If you found a pic of the Rem R25 then they could both be chambered in the handy 308win caliber. No difference at all. They are both Modern Sporting Rifles.

We all know the idiocy of our gun laws. The question is: What are we doing to change them?

Preaching to the choir achieves nothing. I hope that all the disgruntled people out there are writing intelligent, non-ranting letters of indignation to their MP's, the Minister of Public Safety and the PM.
Editorial letters to your local paper are also a good idea.

The alternative, whining about it amongst ourselves, is a fool's game, spinning our wheels waiting for the next gun to be banned, restricted or 'grandfathered'.

Why Can't I Hunt with my Black Rifle?

Because of lefty fvckwits, but you already knew that....

If you want a 30 cal black rifle to hunt with, get a CSA Vz58 is 7.62x39... or if you are inclined an SKS with a plasticrap stock. Perhaps a XCR-L if you really want to spend some money.

There is no comparison between an SKS or vz58 and an AR. I like the red rifles, but the AR is a vastly better rifle in every respect.

I would except that I am allergic to ####ty commie guns. I break out in a rash whenever one gets too close to me.

That's not true, you never broke out when we were looking at my vz58. Or does the 11" barrel make it all ok?:p

Oddly, the largest Mule Deer I've ever taken was a nice 6 pointer, taken with my M1 Garand. He didn't know that it was a semi-auto battle rifle and not a Tikka.

+1, I have taken a couple of deer with my Garand as well. Strangely enough it worked fine and is a great rifle to carry, superbly balanced with excellent iron sights.

Why can't you hunt with your black rifle?

Because the majority of people who reside in big cities fear technological advancement in firearms and thus presume to dictate to the rural inhabitants what is and what is not a hunting gun. It matters not that they know less than nothing about either firearms or hunting, just that they consider themselves superior to the rest of us.

Sadly, this is a good part of the truth. The rest is that politicians, all politicians, don't want the people to be armed.

One is ugly and the other is covered in camo?

Showed my wife the 7.62mm in PINK digital camo - reaction: "Meh ....".

She's got a peel off stick on kit coming that will dec out her AR in "Muddy Girl" camo. This is all in aid of discouraging me from shooting HER rifle, of course.

When I hunt with my M1, I carry it slung up in USMC target-style mode. This carry supports the weight of the rifle and allows me to free either either arm for a break.
When I left my hunting buddies in camp enjoying a post-lunch siesta, they laughed at my "klunker" rifle. A half hour later, I was kicking them awake to help me drag out the deer.
They came home skunked.

My shot gun is black. Like ALL black. I hope it's not to evil to shoot birds with.
I've had it for almost a year and I know for a FACT it hasn't "killed" anything but paper. I hope I don't have a scary assault rifle!!

Well if we're listing the top 10 reasons you can't hunt with a black rifle I'll let you in on a little secret. I called the RCMP and asked, I was told if you shoot a restricted firearm anywhere but an approved range you may in fact rip a hole in the fabric of the space time continuity! So please don't try it.
