Hi there, can someone tell me what a decent price is for Rem 1100 20G 2 3/4" Full choke No Rib.

Also if I give someone seal number, could you tell the age.

Thanks

The easiest way to tell the exact age of Remington guns is with the 2 letter barrel code typically found on the left side of the barrel near the chamber. http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes
On shotguns it can be a little tricky as the barrels are easily swaped from one gun to the next but the barrel date can be cross referenced with the following:

Model 1100 LETTER PREFIX

1963 TO APPROX. 1968: NO SERIAL NUMBER PREFIX
1968 TO PRESENT: LETTERS USED (IN SEQUENCE)
L-68, M-74, N-78, P-85, R-90

Model 1100 LETTER SUFFIX (DESIGNATES GAUGE)

V 12 GA. (2 3/4”)
M 12 GA. MAGNUM (3”)
W 16 GA. ( 2 ¾” )
X 20 GA. “HEAVY FRAME” (DISCONTINUED)
N 20 GA. “HEAVY FRAME MAGNUM” (DISCONTINUED)
K 20 GA. LT-20
U 20 GA. LT-20 MAGNUM
J 28 GA.
H .410 BORE (2 ½” OR 3”)

I would have no issues paying up to $550 for one that is in excellent condition...some will say that is too high but I'm biased towards older guns that have a well proven track record and were built in a time where quality of materials, workmanship and pride was found other than in a dictionary!

Ok I'm a bit of an amatuire at all these numbers.
Left side of barrel near reciever has WDRO or WDR0 Serial # has 6 digits floowed by X
This mean anything. Did they ever make Rem 1100's with an antique looking bluing

Plain bbl 2 3/4" $250-$300

From my experience with these if in no rush to sell I can get that for just the barrel and have in the past. It is a 12ga frame gun and barrels are impossible to find
If VR it would be $350.00 non vent full $250
Check corson they are in the same range
This gun is worth more in parts than complete

'X' 20 GA. “HEAVY FRAME”
The Barrel has been DISCONTINUED since the early 80's

Been three WTB listings in the EE for one of these barrels in the past two years and all were just bumped and bumped with no success.

Cheers

So would $400 be a fair price?

$250 for a plain 2 3/4" good luck

Nothing to do with luck all about availibility .Yep in the real world 250 is the norm by every known vintage barrel supplier out there Examples of two suppliers
BE-REM-84 Remington 1100 STANDARD 20 ga. $250.00 28 FULL, PLAIN, 2 3/4 in., 98% IN STOCK
or
1100 20ga Standard WT 2 3/4 28” Cutts Vent 95% $350
1100 20ga Standard WT 2 3/4" 28" Full 95% $250

Times are a changing from the 60's and with this one makes no difference if canada or US
These rarely come up for sale and you normally have to buy a complete gun to get an extra barrel of any choke

I'm not going to tell you what I just paid for a 870 16ga factory VR SKEET but know it would take 25 years to find another as it did for me
Here is a hint and a skeet is quite a bit more
BE-REM-87 Remington 870 16 ga. $425.00 26 IC, VENT RIB, 2 3/4 in., 98% IN STOCK

The days of buying new remington barrels in the box for 79 bucks as I still have a few here are long gone

Cheers
