Which manufacturer has the best/fastest warrenty service

I just sent my Glock 23 in because of a cracked frame. 13 years old (not the original owner either) and they are replacing the frame for free and paying shipping both ways. I was never much of a Glock fan but I must admit they have won me over.

I have tried a few Glocks and the trigger feel wasn't working for me so not a big fan either but they do seem to be very popular. It's probably a pistol I would need to shoot a lot to develop a liking/comfort for.

Did you have a lot of options of where you could sent it in for repair? Keep us informed on the turn around time.

Thanks for the response.

Wonder if it would be the same in Canada?

When I first starting looking into if it was normal for a Canadian S&W warranty to take many months I found out it was normal if you just sent it in and had no relationship with the gunsmith. I was also surprised to find that some had taken more than a year and were still waiting.

I then checked on some US S&W forums and found that people were saying that it was taking many months to get a response from S&W for a estimate on repair work so if your pistol is with S&W USA I would agree that it's going to be a long time before you see it again. In fairness to Murray Charlton, they are probably just as frustrated with S&W USA not getting back to them so they can respond to your inquiry.

Yes and no, I don't know how hard they really try to get a hold of S&W either. Being open 4 days a week doesn't help us. Gina hardly ever emails or calls me back when I leave a message.

I agree some things are out of their control, but why should your relashionship or lack of make any difference to service times? Funny how another CGN'er gave me the contact info to get in touch with S&W customer service to try and get an answer.
Thanks goes out to Jackrabbit!

84, did one of the contacts get back to you yet? If not call or email them again.

Easier said than done, we're in Canada remember.

You could get warranty here from Glock but it will still take forever to get your gun back. Sending a registered gun/frame or as a matter of fact, any gun back and forth across the border is easier said than done.

glocks warrenty is covered by police ordanence in ontario, if your frame is screwed they assess it, and order a new one and destroy the old.... whole process is usually 3 months or less.

A year is completely unacceptable... If i sent my gun out and didn't get it back for a year it would be the last gun I bought from that company. That is just #### service from a company that can't be bothered, no excuse. A company that has those kinds of problems needs to revisit what the problem is in the warranty chain and fix it. If you can't fix a gun in under a year give the customer a new gun.

As for the people who said to you do you want good service or fast service...... it never ceases to amaze me the crap service and attitudes people accept just because its "firearms". Its retail first and firearms second IMHO, if I get #### service and #### warranty I'll go elsewhere.

That is good to know! I think my next toy will be a G17 just because of this.

I've used Murray Charlton and had no issues with the service. Less than 2 week turnaround, although it was only a timing issue.

This is completely different than if the gun needs to be returned back to the factory like mine. As I mentioned earlier, mine's been at MCE for over 10 months now and still no idea on when it will even ship out. Then, who knows how long it's going to take for S&W to look at it, repair/replace it and return it back to MCE. I'm still guessing on over 2 years before I ever see it again.

So finally got word from Smith and Wesson, they will be looking into where my gun is and as the email from their customer service rep said they will see what needs to be done to get the gun back to me asap. Guess if i had waited for Murray Charlton i would still be waiting! Lets see how this develops

I am surprised you were able to contact them directly, I would have thought it would have to be the authorized warranty provider who sent them the gun. Good to know.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. When I first looked into this whole S&W being slow issue one person was still waiting after 17 months for MCE and it wasn't even sent to S&W if I recall correctly.

only warranty worth talking about is anything that freedom ventures does, any other brand and unless its a huge repair bill just have your smith fix it because its going to take a year otherwise

Yeah thats what i thought as well, sometimes you have to try different approach when you aren't getting anywhere after a year of waiting.
Will keep you posted

Still waiting for my restricted to show up in the mail but I really had my eye on the S&W M&P 22 for my first, I my have to rethink this now. Looks like I may have to have another look at the Brownings.

I've bought a BNIB taurus 608 a few weeks ago because of their lifetime warranty that follows the gun weather your the first or the 20th owner. Figured that since there's plenty of negative reviews and lots of problems with that revolver better have the "best" warranty in the business so if I end-up with a lemon they will make it right. Plus that the price was about $200 less than the other dealers.

After speaking with Sean from Freedom Ventures he confirmed that Taurus only warrants their guns for one year in Canada and after digging a bit I found that the service centre was a small business based in Quebec witch I've never heard of... I've cancelled the purchase and bought a 4.2 stainless GP100 witch is $250 more but probably less trouble down the road!

That small business in Quebec that does Taurus service is also the Ruger service depot for Canada. They have been in business for over 25 years and are very professional.
