3 Gun Shotgun

Well if you're looking for a dedicated gun, what about the MKA 1919 (yes, restricted)?
It's got mags, somewhat similar to AR if that's part of your 3 gun.
It's also becoming popular in the states for 3 gun...

See I think mag-fed is really interesting. But are there any mag fed semi's in Canada that are readily available?

Valtro has been impossible to find mags for other than the one it comes with
MKA 1919 comes with two mags, more available. Used south of border in 3 gun a lot. Saiga12 still more popular (but not allowed here)
WSS apparently has the "pardus" or something similar that's reported non-restricted (I haven't seen it)
Cougar is not allowed south of border correct?

The only one's I've seen here in TX have been modded Eastern European guns with extended Banana mags. They look like about 25 12 ga. rounds. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

A friend of mine has a Saiga based gun. The bad news is that it's a jamamatic despite many hours and $$$ of tuning. For what it's worth, he wouldn't do it again.

Endless horror stories with reliability issues on the detachable mag feds. The guys in the US get them running after a lot of work but I tried and failed many times. I have never seen one finish a match without issues. Maybe a stage, but not a match. When it does happen it's rare and they are just not smooth. Just from my observations anyway.

Hey look at that! Norinco 1000:

Even the tried and true 1911 suffers from mag issues and bullet shapes. The tube magazine feeds predictably and straight; not so with box mags as the rounds tilt. Then you have that clunky flat-nosed shell. It's no small wonder that the Saiga and others have problems with the irregularities in shell and that banana mag.

As cool as box feds are, everyone commenting on the issues with them are bang on (no pun intended) far too many oddities and chances for things to go wrong at the most inopportune time.

TV-PP FOCUS!, don't be swayed by any witches voice and go handle a VM! :D

Just an update:

I threw money down this morning on an Mka 1919. I'll have lots more to say when its actually here, but I'm hoping to convert it from A2 ugliness into something like these beauties:

I like how he did a almost 180 from what he was going for :)

That does look like all kinds of smecksy though, it's restricted is it not?

*edit* wooo, yep, it's restricted unsurprisingly based on looks, since it's restricted, can we chop the barrel down? :)

Can I assume that you will be restricted to five round mags in Canada? I'm aware tens are available but will they be legal Beagle? Hmmmmmm?

The factory mags are 2, 5 and 10.
There are aftermarket mags and extensions to take the capacity higher, but anything more than 5 in Canada is prohibited device.

Firebird Precision in the US used to customize these, but they have switched over to making the entire gun themselves (receivers and internal parts)
Do a google search for MKA 1919 gas system mods and there is a way to increase reliability with light target loads by placing a washer or spacer in the gas system.
I forget exactly what it was, and didn't bookmark the pages.

I figured that re the tens in Canada. So IMO 5+1 is going to make it a challenge to be competitive when other SA's will start with 7 + 1. Maybe you can make up for this on reloads. It depends on the COF Interesting but only if you get reliability which has been an issue with box fed SG's in the past.

I used to know everything about that gun.
Was goign to buy one a couple years back and researched the crap out of it.
Forgot most of it now though since I decided not to buy it.

There are feed ramp mods, gas system mods, side charging handle handguards from a couple different manufacturers, stock adapters to get AR type stocks on the gun.
There are a couple different vintages of this gun, with the newer ones having slightly better feeding reliability.

There is a Saiga forum in the US with a Akdal 1919 sub forum where guys discuss this gun quite a bit, assuming I'm remembering correctly

Yup restricted!

Yup 5 round mags!

My source was IrunGuns. Only took two weeks of calls and emails to get them to take my money  BUT they did have a version with 4 mags out of the box. Two 5 rounders and two extended 5/10 rounders.

I've got a friendly home in the US that will hold onto my real ten-round 12-gauge mags and my surefire 60 round mags for the Tavor. I need to forward them some 33 round jericho mags too!

I'm curious to see how this does with light loads right off the bat. If it doesn't get better after the first hundred rounds I'll be putting an extra $150 into enhanced parts from the US.

Blog posts will be copious when the beast is actually in my hands.

Aside from the appearance what makes it restricted? The stock barrel is long enough. In doing your research, what did you find regarding its performance in three gun?
