Price check savage model 99 in .308?

It all depends on the condition of the rifle. What model is it? Condition of rifling? Condition of metal? How is the wood? Is their a tang crack? Aluminum or brass rotor? etc...
 
model is a good place to start. Big difference between an 99E and a 99C

original condition is everything from there and determines shooter/collector quality. The addition of sling swivels or anything "aftermarket" detracts from the collectable side, but may attract the shooter crowd, like a non-factory D&T.

pictures would be the easiest.
 
how do you know if it is an E, or C? does have some sling attachments.... S/N is 944### Has a japan made older bushnell scope. any other angles or things i should be snapping with the camera?

That's a pre-mil 99 Featherweight in a Winchester caliber, lever safety and cut checkered, gun will be gone before he had to up it in the EE at $500-$550 any day of the week.

Only thing not original to the gun are the sling swivels or it would be worth more.

You truly are a wealth of knowledge. I was working up in Bruce Mines not that long ago and I was going to head over to St. Joe's Island and just drive around hoping I'd find a guy walking into the house with an old 99 so I could introduce myself and take a look at the museum I'm sure your collection is.
 
About 90% of my collection has never seen the light of day, haha.

Might start to sell a few off, kids in university really take a toll on firearms. Just can't pick which ones to cull from the herd.
 
Thanks maddog, i hope it sells fast. thats why i am selling it, got it for a good deal off a buddy, and have no interest in keeping it. Also have a mint remington 742 in 30-06 listed for 400$. not sure if this will sell at that price as i know nothing of those guns either.

I'd like to know why people deface them with butt pads and swivels...I don't know how many beautiful 99's I've seen with a nasty old recoil pad stuck to the end...breaks my heart to see...

well, upon further inspection i have noticed someone along its life has lightly ingraved their SIN number into the side of the lever. looks to be just into the bluing, and i initially thought it was just bluing loss/slight scratches. but when i cleaned it up, and looked closer.... is $450 too much now? :p
 
I bought one recently, just like yours minus swivels but with tang safety, a '61 and I paid 450 shipped no scope. The only issue on mine is a little pitting on butt plate.
I think $450 with scope is very well priced, I'd buy it but I'm married lol!
