Can anyone tell me what red dot sight would be the easiest to install on my old sks that has a tapco intrafuse? I'm not a machinist so I really don't want to deal with anything to complicated.

Yep, thats why i asked. It is pointless to mount anything on the hand guard as it moves and any movement throws the scope out. I have ran the kwik rail for about 1200 rounds without issue. I have ran a peep sight, vortex red dot and a hi powered scope. I am currently using the vortex red dot on my kwik rail. Check it out it is the most versatile mounting system for the sks and it will accomidate any optic you would want. Plus it protects your optics from the ejecting shells

I would think the Kwik Rail would be the best option if you wished to retain zero. Gas tube mounts in my opinion aren't a great solution. Check out http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...0-New-SKS-Kwik-rail-scope-mounts-in-stock-now!

Uh, that dealer is using my pic and my rail to sell a different rail system.

I spoke to him about a month ago and he assured me that he had changed the pic, so fail to understand why that pic is still up.
Edit: spoke with Hical tonight, due to a miscommunication that link was left up, but its now fixed. All is well ...

If it doesn't say Magwedge on it, it's not a KwikRail ...

We have many dealers that carry our product. Please visit our website for links to a dealer near you.

I have a NcSTAR with SKS Micro Dot Rail Cover. On one of my SKS rifles it fits about perfect where it holds zero and I don't need the side screws. As for performance, its a 4moa dot on a rifle that already shoots about 4moa. Be realistic about what your expectations are.

I use the scout mount that I bought from wolverine with a bushnell trs-25. I enjoy this setup. The bushnell handles the .30 cal recoil like a boss

if you just want to mount a red dot and dont care about removing the rear sight, go for the BCtactical. i think that would be the most practical as it doesnt require you to take out the rear take down pin, and does not stop you from using stripper clips. The kwikrail and other similar rails are great if you want to mount something a bit more significant like a scope. But again just for a red dot, i say keep it simple.

I think you guys have me convinced. Going to order a scout from bc tactical.
What's with the pricing on the bushnell trs 25's? $79 on amazon and $170 or so from certain dealers here?

Thats a very broad statement to make. The recoil energy of 7.62x39 is about 7 pounds, where recoil from 30.06 is up to and greater than 20 pounds, and 300 W mag goes high as 30 pounds recoil. You make that statement without understanding what the scope of range for ".30 cal" actually means.

Not to sound like a smart ass or anything but being that we are talking about an SKS on this thread, I think it's a fair assumption to assume I was referring to the .30 cal recoil of the 7.62x39. My apologies to the OP if you thought I was talking about a 300 win mag or even a lapua mag. ;-)

FYI, I paid 120$ for my red dot from cabelas.

I watched the video and really like how simple and small it is. What kinda red dot did you use on youres?
I mounted a TRS-25 from bushnell on it. also have one on my Mossberg 500. Only thing you need to watch out for is empty brass ejecting and hitting the lens. I fixed this problem by preforming the "ejection mod" to my SKS. Now my rounds kick right instead of up. or you could just use the riser block included with the red dot.

Here you can see where I filed it down. I used a dremel and a round bit. Just file it down as close to a 90 degree angle as you can, and slant it slightly outwards. Theres lots of info regarding this procedure on the internet. I was not quite done when i took this picture, still had to make it more of a right angle, instead of a semi circle.

i got mine at my local gun shot for 119$ + tax. wouldnt pay more. they go on sale often for at least 20% off. 79$ is a great price, just make sure its shipping from canada to canada, that sounds like a Amazon.com price, not a .ca .

Would also recommend adding a 2 inch butt plate if you order on Amazon. the added Length of pull is really nice, makes it feel like a big boys gun, and make me feel like less of a small Vietnamese soldier ;D
