I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Turkish veteran still alive. It is not hard to image a 12 year old, for example, being in the Turkish army at the time.
It's not hard to imagine a 12 year old being in Australian uniform at the time, or in Canadian uniform. It is popular to smear "foreign" armies with charges of using child soldiers, but it is something the West is only recently getting over.
