I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Turkish veteran still alive. It is not hard to image a 12 year old, for example, being in the Turkish army at the time.

It's not hard to imagine a 12 year old being in Australian uniform at the time, or in Canadian uniform. It is popular to smear "foreign" armies with charges of using child soldiers, but it is something the West is only recently getting over.

Apologies if I misunderstood.

Overall, a sad thing to think of all the "kids" that got sent away, and how many never came back. At the height of the pressure for warm bodies in WWI, I don't think there was a single country in the Axis or Allies, that cared to pay attention to their own age guidelines for the recruiting centres.
