Surefire high capacity AR magazines?

They are cool for their intended purpose, which is full automatic fire dominance, same as a drum mag, but far more practical to transport.

The idea is that a soldier carries one of these magazines in the rifle, gains fire dominance in a firefight in the first few seconds, and all subsequent mags are standard 30 rounders.

For a semi auto pinned to 5, it is not much more than a cool talking piece.

We have sold several of the 60 round magazines to customers. Everything legal, and above board. In fact IRG has both the 60 round and 100 round magazines advertised for sale on their Canadian Website right now. There are no restrictions that we know of, apart from the usual ITAR.

For $100 I can buy five 5/30 Pmags and if we ever end up in a zombie apocalypse or WROL there will be no such thing as a rivet. These 5 round limits have made me fairly good at mag changes and a 5/30 is way easier to carry and manipulate. Also much lighter rifle when carrying it and not shooting.
The Surefire mag is a $50 magazine that is inflated just like the stupid Beowulf mags due to supply manipulation and the fact people are silly enough to spend that much on them. There is no way I am paying over $100 for a $30 mag that has a stamp on the side just so I can stick a few more rounds in

Exactly! How stupid to buy Beowulf here. Why bother, the 10's are just as good. & IF anything like mentioned above, all the 5/30 would become something else anyway. So whats the point spending $100. ..at the same time, I still think Drum(in any rifle) mags look wicked cool, & I would buy one just for that, even though pretty useless in their Canadianized form, if the price was half decent! :p

Using the mag as a rest is an invitation to a malfunction. You can't import or possess "high capacity" mags anyway. Make you into a belligerent SOB baby killer. snicker.

Really? Been shooting ARs since I was sixteen, service rifle since 2001, use one at work…I always rest on the mag if I can and have yet to have a malfunction …

Listen, I've been making multiple donations and writing letters.
I would never spend money on one of these for myself, but my friend's birthday is coming up and he said he wants one of these. He is an idiot. Over the last 16 years, it's become obvious to me that no matter how much breath I waste trying to talk sense into him, he will just always like stupid sh!t. No matter what.
He said that all he wants is one of these magazines, and I'd rather get him something gun related than something he doesn't want..

Fair enough. I have a friend like that but instead he wastes his money on jacked up diesel trucks so he has enough power to pull around a motorcycle trailer and blow lots of black smoke in peoples windows when driving in traffic.
Some days I want to slap him but he'll never change.

Can't fix stupid.

I always carry a copy of the regs regarding mag capacity printed from the RCMP site just in case. We all know they are perfectly legal but it could end up being a real pain if the wrong officer stops you. I have better things to do with my time.

I use the 10 ATRS 10 rounders and have got around to doing exactly this. Well worth the 10 cents of paper and staple to keep in your range bag. Shows that you have gone to the trouble to print off the documentation for them if a problem ever arises. Also great to have if Fudds are breaking your balls.....

Basically.

I don't understand why people still buy Pmags or any 5/30rd AR mags in Canada.

I like using a 5/30 or 5/20 (would prefer to just use them the way God made them but that's another thread). A 30 round bodied magazine is much easier to load into the rifle. The part I don't understand is how someone can justify spending over $100 on a magazine that would be worth $20 if it wasn't for the supply shortage and the fact they can stick a couple more rounds in it. To me that money would be much better spent fighting the stupid laws that have neutered our mags or at the very least simply buying another couple hundred rounds of ammo.

People are free to spend their money on whatever they want but I just can't justify the cost for something that is purely cosmetic.

I don't understand why people complain about what other people spend their money on.

My point is why buy 5 rounders when 10 rounders are perfectly legal? I've shot in other countries with no magazine restriction and there's no reason why we can't have full capacity mags. Personally I can't wait for someone to import a beowolf pistol and have the appropriate magazines made for them.

I have had lots of reliability issues with a handful of LAR magazines I own, especially the newer grey ones, that is why I still use PMAGs.

I would switch to the .50 mags but they are still cost prohibitive.
