What scope does everyone use?

I know this is going to be a totally subjective thread, with a lot of different opinions, but it might also be interesting, educating, and informative to some of the less experienced.
Ill go first. I'm a died in the wool still hunter. Most of my shots are well within 100 yards, but I've been known to poke out to 350 yards give or take on occasion. I like simple scopes with moderate magnification in the 2-7X range. My 223 wears a 3-9X due to the fact that a much smaller target at my max range is just a little easier to see with a little extra power. I like duplex reticles, they are simple, don't clutter my view, and I can use the start of a duplex if holdover is needed.
I'm kinda partial to Leupould vari X 2's, and weaver classics. Call me conservative, but they work for me.

well i hunt with my target rifles since i dont care about having to pack some extra weight around if it means im 100% confident in makeing my shots 100% of the time...

so schmidt and bender 5-25x56 with H59 reticles

I understand and agree with your point. My hunting rifles are also my target rifles as well. My main 30-06 took over 1000 rounds through its tube in one year alone. I've retired that one to simply a hunter for fear that it's getting close to the end of its peak accuracy life. I'm also using Barnes TTSX bullets in it and can't afford to keep that rate of fire up with those.

I've got dozens of scoped rifles. Out of those, an alarming amount of hunting rifles have 3.5-10 VX3s, some with Duplexs, some with B&Cs and some with CDS dials. Many with flatter shooting cartridges will wear something similar but in 4.5-14. Some of those are side focus LRs A couple Zeiss (one Conquest, one Diavari) managed to sneak in, both 3-9. Some of the bigger rifles get a little less magnification like a 1.75-6 or 2.5-8.

Varmint rifles get 4-14s LRs if they are coyote specific and 6.5-20LRs for more rodent oriented sport. In either case they have a ballistic reticle of some sort. Long range hunting and target rifles get mostly 6.5-20 or 8.5-25 Mark 4s. I'm morphing toward lighter long-range rifles and 4.5-14 Mark 4s are starting to show up. My Cheytac has a Night force NXS.

That's the general theme, but there are exceptions. A few 6X fixed Leupolds for my son when I was keeping things simple for him, and a handful of VX2s in 3-9 and 4-12 from before I decided that the couple bucks saved wasn't worth it. Its not that they are bad, but for a few bucks more I can have what I want. A favored .223 sporter is wearing a 3.5-10 Tactical.

.22s are a bit more random with a lot of fixed 4s, 2-7s, a few 3-9 EFRs and a lonely fixed 20 benchrest scope. Some get hand-me-downs.

Borgsasmord of chit and feathers here, but I am seeing more and more with the
Leupold brand name on them.
I'm impressed with the 4200's as well.
Haven't made my mind up if the BLR81 358win will wear the new Leupold
3x9-40.......yet.........aye .........SuperFuddCub?
Could put a smile on his face.

Since purchasing my first rifle in 2008 I have paid close attention to my scope selection. Until recently all my scopes have been minimum 10x magnification. All my reticles are ballistic drop reticles with 3 of my 5 scopes having target turrets, all scopes have parallax adjustments.

Burris, Vortex and Sightron sit atop my five rifles to meet my hunting and target shooting needs - long range for me is 600 yds, so my Sightron's at 6.5x20 are fitted to those rifles where I have selected heavier, high BC bullets to get the job done. I have found the Sightron reticles very nice to my eye.

Noteworthy, is that a reticle can be a deal breaker for me on any scope in any particular brand. I have picked up new scopes in the store and put them down just as fast. I have kept my scope selection to mid-range pricing - I may go to a higher line someday but right now my lowest priced Burris do the job just fine. In fact my longest game shot and best target grouping at 450 yds was shot using an older Burris.

I've owned lots, but the current one that has really won me over is Nightforce, specifically the NXS 5.5-22x56 MOAR reticle, I own 4 of them now, and they are an awesome scope for the price.

I like to take shots from 300- 1000 yards and beyond, with hopes of going far further in the future, and this scope will take me there.

nikon monarchs. i came from a background in photo and i used nikon then, so it seemed natural. i'm sure there are better scopes out there.. but i have stuck with nikon. every one of my rifles wears a monarch. even the 22lr's

My scope selection is as follows.

The .22 is wearing a cheap Bushnell 3-9x32.
My .243 has a 3-12x42 Nikon Monarch.
My .300WSM has a 3-9x40 Bushnell 4200
And my Norinco M14 has a Leupold Mark 4 2.5-8x32

My absolute favorite configuration on a deer rifle is 2-7x32 or 33 with 3-9x40 a close second.I have three centerfires wearing 2-7,two with 3-9,one with 4-12 and one with 4-16. I have 3-9 on a rimfire,4-12 on one and 1.5-4.5 on another. All with duplex reticle. I don't care for other reticles on a hunting rig. Leupold, burris and bushnell make up my collection.

Sounds like your close to the flavor I like.

All of my hunting happens in the bush. I use Leupold VXll, 2-7x28 on my deer rifle (duplex) and on my "hunting" 22 (fine duplex). My target/long range varmint 22 has a Leupold VX2 6-18x40 (fine duplex). My third 22 has a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 (BDC) but I find the magnification range awkward for my use (9x too low for 50 m+ target work and 3x not enough FOV for "close encounters with squirrels").
