Looks fine. Load them and shoot them! If you want new looking brass you probably need to screw around with that wet stainless steel pins process. If you want brass clean enough to keep from scratching your reloading dies and plenty clean for chambering so you can make them dirty again you're good to go.

That looks more like corn cob than walnut media, try adding a couple of caps full of thick auto body polish. My tumbler usually has 40 rifle brass clean as new in 2-3 hours use.

I use walnut shell used for bedding from the pet store, works fantastic with a slight amount of polish mixed in ,for cleaning with a slight polish. If you want to polish you probably need to run some brass through corn cob which polishes but doesn't really clean. I have never seen the stuff you are using, extremely fine compared to the walnut I use. I normally run 4 hours , but some people run up to 8 hours( to long for me).

If thats walnut media, it looks more like fine walnut blasting media. A bit too fine for brass cleaning unles you are polishing after tumbling. The additives mentioned above may help but I think your media is too fine. You need something a bit more coarse/agressive for tumbling. Just sayin'..
Good luck

All has been said above. You're G2G as is, reload 'n shoot.

From your question, I'm guessing you were expecting shinier. If the case, you need to make your media more abrasive, which can be done by using walnut shell (or mix with corn cob) and adding a cap or 2 of metal polishing solution. I used Dillon's stuff. It is true it removes material but lets not get carried away: how many times your expect to reload them?

Please note that shinier does not make better/more accurate rounds, they just do look darn better. :)

i was told not too use brasso its too hard on the brass how does it work for you ????? hound13

To be honest, I haven't mixed any in my media in quite some time. In fact, the media i use has very rarely been rotated and usually I just add rejuvenator every couple years.

Really, I think the whole tumbling media is somewhat overblown

You're using too fine of a walnut shell. I have a full bag of the same stuff in my garage :(.

I believe the stuff you want is a 12/20 or 12/24 crush. The stuff you have is like super fine sand and does not make a good cleaning medium.

And get rid of the Frankford Arsenal tumbler. I have one of those sitting in the garage right beside the bag of super fine walnut....LOL.

My Lyman (with proper sized crush) will clean brass 2x faster than the Frankford.

Also, there is not enough ammonia in Brasso to ruin cases regardless of what you have heard unless, of course, you're soaking your brass in a vat of it.

Best polish I ever used was some Aluminum Mag Polish, 1/2 hr - 1 hr and the cases were clean as well as gleaming. The sell it under the brand Car Pro at United Auto here in town, but it's $60/l. Mind you, a litre would probably last any of us a lifetime.
