Hornady 8th edition conservative 35 Whelan data??

Don't know what loads you are working with, but my Whelan in Rem. 700 likes 60 gr. of Reloader 15 with Sierra 225Gr. boatail bullets. That is just a bit down with what Whelan Lad calls a maximum load.
As I suspected the Hornady is quite conservative. Need to get more manuals. Thanks for the post.
Their manuals seem more conservative, however, some Hornady bullets have longer bearing surfaces than other brands in the same weight range, which can increase pressures.
There are some loads in the Hornday book which are hotter than in other manuals.
A lot of older manuals didn't use pressure testing rigs and just went by pressure signs. The problem with going by pressure signs is that by the time you see them, you already past where you should be.

I think a part of the problem is that Hornady lumps all there bullets of the same weight into the same data. Therefore reducing the load to the bullet which creates the highest pressure. Always catering to the "Lowest Common Denominator" you could say
