150 soft point interlock bullets

i want to reload bullets but im not sure if they will work in a 30/30 tube magazine i know it will be ok for 308 i havent had a chance to look in the hornandy manual and im looking on line as we speak to find out some info but no luck so far mayby you guys can help ... hound13
 
If you are talking about these #3035 then yes I use these in my marlin 30-30

If you are absolutly stuck for bullets, you can use a pointy bullet.

However, the OAL has to be short enough for the round to cycle. Too long and it won't come out of the mag.

If you load the pointy bullet short enough, you can laod 2. One in the chamber and one in the mag. Good enough for 99% of hunting situations.

I did it once and it was ok. I took a coarse file and ground the point off so the bullet was shorter and had a larger, flat point, that would be ok in the mag.
 
First off why would you grind down the top of a bullet with a file is beyond me as it will affect accuracy of which you are already against a wall with a RN bullet.
Second 150 grainers in most applications don't have much to offer in the .30/30 other than practice. If you want hunting loads you should be working with 170gr RN or FP. Just my $.02

Read his post again, he filed off the nose of a pointy bullet to fit in his tube mag and gave it a "larger, flat point".
