Dinner on Saturday Night!

you didnt like Eland or Oryx filets ...

any meat can taste so good depending on the environment ... Kudu loins in the middle of nowhere in CAR was so great ...at least in my memory.

I loved eland meat...it's my favourite of the African antelope. We made some killer bbq eland ribs on our last trip to South Africa. I'd happily put one of them in the freezer every year. Truthfully, all of the plains game we've eaten in Africa has been really good. The real surprise was zebra......like the best prime rib a person has ever tasted. Even raw kudu liver was palatable with sufficient amounts of schnapps to wash it down!

You'd probably like woodcock then ! It's actually pretty good on the BBQ, but not to everyone's taste.

A couple of friends returned from Africa also raving about the Eland. They seemed to think Wildebeest was pretty good too.

Trust the S.C.W.A. did well with their fund raiser. The price of admission was certainly very reasonable.
I've been to some Sheep, Elk & Duck Dinners at 3, 4 and more times that cost, where game was donated and featured and prepared by
some big name Chefs. Always a great night out. Bacon wrapped nuggets of terryaki marinated mallard with a slice of water chestnut done
up on the BBQ last all of about 5 minutes at deer camp every year ! I'd be dis-owned if I didn't show up with them !

When I used to do our game banquets , the cougar was always very popular, as was the bear curry. I'd have people stopping me on the street for months to talk about it. Curry is a great way to cook robust meats like goat and bear.
