turkey ammo

I have been a fan of the Federal flight control wad 3"magnum #5. Killed my last 2 turkeys with it, patterns nicely at 35 yards with my super nova. The 3.5" shells I have tried from Remington and Winchester kick too much, I won't be using them again.

From my mossburg 500. Winchester in 5 (1-7/8oz)and 6's(1-3/4) only had 8 and 17 on target at 40 yards, remington #5 (1.5oz)had over 58. The newest winchester xr longbeard 1 3/4oz had major recoil like a solid slug and only wanted to shoot one, hit what looked about 80% on paper but made the muzzle jump up 8" or so on paper. I didnt want to shoot anymore, was like a 460 weatherby mag to the shoulder on the recoil.

Last year I bought a 5-6 boxes of different types of ammo. I found the Federal Premium Mag-Shock 3.5" worked best in my Winchester SX-2 with the choke I bought. I bagged my first turkey last season @ 35 yards with it. The flightcontrol wad actually hit the turkey as well.
