Trying to find my first .22 revolver or pistol. Any suggestions?

Whatever you plan on buying, just make sure to do your homework. Read reviews. Google can help you make a solid decision. I agree with most here that you get what you pay for.

Remember also that anything you buy used you can sell again for nearly the same money...New guns take a bit more of a hit...Try a few you will soon figure what you like and don't like!

Unfortunately, pistols are just plain more expensive, just because they're pistols. $400 is a much more realistic start.

I found my used Buckmark for $299 in Cabela's pre-owned room, and it's a wonderful gun. Keep looking around, you can definitely find quality stuff at affordable prices with a little perseverance.

Comes with 2 mags, plastic case, trigger lock, custom grips. You can even try it out, if you can get to me near Peterborough, ON
Not quite in your stated price range, but close, and a solid deal.
PM me if interested.

Like most are telling you... 400 or a little north is more of a starting point .... ruger 22's are a reliable start .... make sure to do little reading first before you jump...

Agree mostly with previous posts, the purchase price is secondary to the value YOU get from shooting the piece.
My experience with the GSG has been that it's as accurate as I am. Had the guide rod/recoil spring upgrade waiting when the gun arrived. Rubber grips definitely help.
Figure about $500 total into it. Eats any ammo I feed it, mostly Thunderbolts, M22, Rem Golden bucket. Occasionally I dump a mag of Stingers just for the flash, hehe
BTW the mags are readily available and reasonably priced, got a couple extras included in the equation there too.
I was on the fence between the GSG and an M&P 22, but mag availability was (is?) a problem with the Smith...
