Auto 5 compatability

Hi i own a browning auto 5(1976) and i was wondering if the savage 799 and remington model 12 copies have any compatible parts. Mainly the barrel is what im looking for so if you know of a place with 3" capable auto5 barrels that would help too! Thanx!

Parts are not compatible. You can't fire 3" out of your 2-3/4 Auto 5. Only the Magnum Auto-5s are capable of firing 3" shells.

That's important to know. The Savage and Remington guns were never made with 3" capabilities because 3" did not exist at that time. Barrels sometimes come up for sale on the EE and I would recommend putting up a WTB ad for one. They don't come cheap though.

if your receiver is not 3inch it will never work to put a 3" chamber barrel on cause shell is to long to fit trough eject port that is if your old receiver is 2 3/4 an i do know the brownining barrel will not work on a savage i have tried that if that shed light on your question
savage did make auto 5 clone in a 3'' maybe that would would if your receiver is 3''
